Back from a lovely walk with a very mucky dog or two ๐Ÿถ ๐Ÿ•

Bonnie was due a dunk in a bath anyway... ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜‚

That brings back trauma from when I had to bath my dog

If she was just muddy I used to just use the hose in the garden and dry her off with 2 or 3 towels
she was an Alsatian (GSD for the modern people) and mostly lived outdoors - hence her coat was VERY thick and could absorb lots of water
so it took a lot to dry her off - including keeping her in the warm house for a few hours which was never popular - she liked it outside and couldn;t understand why she was being kept inside

When it came to her needing a proper bath I had to totally strip the bathroom of everything - including the carpet (yes - I know)
and then force her into the batch and keep her there with one hand while scrubbing her with the other one

Have you ever tried to keep a wet soapy large dog in a bath - it is damn near impossible!!!

Bonnie the Bischon is relatively OK in a bath ๐Ÿ›€ once she realises that it's going to happen ๐Ÿ˜‚
Roxy, our previous dog was an German Shepherd / Doberman / Rottweiler cross who got the hosepipe treatment (& loved it!)

Went out for a run, wind was bitterly cold. Bumped in to Mrs Tkk on my way back as she'd headed off on a different route. Mrs Tkk made a new friend as we waited to cross the road.

We did the other old person thing , we went to a farm shop. ๐Ÿ˜‚ and had coffee and bacon and egg batchโ€™s as compensation.

Mrs SD & her friend regularly meet up for coffee mornings and on Friday they went to a location they hadn't been to before.

It was a farm shop and they should've known better really.

Mrs SD is a 'young' 62 and her friend a 'young' 64.

They were mortified that it was full of 'old' people and aren't going there again.

Thinking about it, it seems that old age and the teen years are the two stages of life that can be polarised into young and old.

There can be marked differences in behaviour & attitudes between same age individuals in both groups.

Just my opinion and I would be interested in any other opinions.

Good morning all.
Well......its my birthday today. I am officially 78 yrs young.
My daughter has invited some family and friends around for a sort of afternoon tea with various sandwich type things together with scones, cream and jam.
Only one problem, she has told everyone it will be from 2 till 4
....exactly the time the match is on tv
I will have to record it and watch later.

All the best!

Just back from walking across the fields with Millie. It is very cold out there and the cold wind doesn't help.

Yup
Went to Tesco on my bike yesterday to get some shopping but the potatoes from there have been rubbish lately
Hence had to go to ASDA today to get spuds and a few things Tesco didn;t have

It was freezing on the way there - head wind and all that and a VERY cold at that
The way back was better - less wind due to the wind direction so not quite as cold

Oh - and there appears to be a "Great Green Tea shortage" ongoing - no Clipper Green Tea in ASDA or Tesco!!!!

My group of close friends range from 67 to 71, but we classify ourselves as young old people. We are still very active going to gigs, and travelling around regularly, and still reasonably fit.
I do get annoyed and frustrated with old people dithering around and just stopping in the middle of the pavement or the aisles in the shops for no apparent reason. Maybe I'm being unreasonable and at some point in the future that could be me. I hope not though.

Oh yes - my wife can;t get about much and doesn;t walk well- but she still acts like a young person in that way

so it annoy me when I come across (as happened a short while ago) when old people wander up the aisle in ASDA side by side and force me to stand still pressed up by the shelves
and then walk past and don;t even say "Thank you" never mind moving out of the way a bit
the ones that did it today actually gave me a dirty look - for reasons that are beyond me
This never seems to happen with younger people - even ones with kids behave better than some old people

anyway - rant over - better not take my blood pressure for a while!!

I would agree.

Mrs B and myself are both vintage 1947, so, this year we will be 78 (Mrs B is already 78, but, she doesn't like me to mention that, because, for 9 month of the year, I am "younger" than her ๐Ÿ™‚).

We are often surprised by individuals who we see on TV who are significantly younger than us, but look and act older (in our opinion of course).

Similarly in everyday life, or even within our circle of friends/acquaintances/family.

There are some of course who appear more sprightly and fit than us, even though they are older.

I think some of it is down to affluence, or, perhaps, just being willing to spend a bit of cash on clothes, hair dresser, etc. But, there is also an attitude of mind comes into play. We have always been (and still are) "can do" people, but, in my experience, this is not a common trait.
