Mrs Tkk got back from her walk/run just in time to beat the worst of the elements. There were a couple of showers but nothing too fierce. The rain and wind really picked up about 20 minutes ago, more of a squall as it is now calm and the sun is out.

There is a big range of 'normal' bed times in this small community. I wonder what it would be like in the wider CC community? Maybe someone could do a poll?

We just could not contemplate going to bed at 9.30pm,10.00pm,10.30pm, etc.

Our usual time is around 1.00am to 2am - much later on our 'party for two' nights.

On the other hand, we are rarely out of bed before 10.00am. Hours after the early birds on here!

Horses for courses, though!

I'm almost always in bed by 10.00 and asleep by 10 past. As you all know my night time sleep pattern has been awful. I could wake and be wide awake from 2.00am onwards.

I began taking a magnesium supplement eight weeks ago. It's supposed to aid sleep. I don't know if this is proven but sleep pattern has improved significantly. I still wake in the night for a pee or two but can go back to sleep till 6.00/7.00am. This is a huge change. Days when I need an early start I now set an alarm.

I feel much better for this.

Here I am, back again. Good morning. It's cold, wet and miserable. I do feel for the guy laying York stone on our allotment. He seems cheerful enough, I would be indoors by now.

Morning stretches, weights and spinning class done. This afternoon will be domestics and I imagine making tea. I had to withdraw a lot of cash this morning to pay the guys working on the allotment. I was surprised at how little security was involved. Bank card and that was it.

Is electricity the only fuel source that you use?

Our overall energy usage (electricity, oil, coal, & logs) is around £275 pm; averaged over the year - for a decent sized 3 bed detached, bungalow.

We are paying £130/month total for gas and electricity. Modern (37y/o) detached 4 bedroom house. I haven’t checked recently, so, we may be “overdrawn”, but I think British Gas would have been agitating to increase the DD if that were the case.

Our Bunglehouse (Mrs SD!) is 44y/o, so similar vintage.

Even accounting for the extra footprint associated with single‐level living and increased heat loss via the bigger roof void, that is a huge difference. About half of ours!

We are insulated to a decent standard too plus full d/g.

Friends local to us (3 bed detached house & 3 bed detached dormer) are within spitting distance of our bill too.

Puzzled! ^_^
