Mrs D has agreed to the Peak District when she retires. That's 7.5 years away when she's 55 and ill be just shy of 65, so hopefully I'll have kne more move left in me.

I'll pay some other bugger to do the actual moving methinks.

Had a bit of a chat with Mrs SD who might want a bit of a change and one more big adventure together.

I stress that the chances of this, at least at the moment, are remote. But who knows...

... she is fancying moving out of the Lake District to somewhere east of York. Near the coast but not necessarily on it.

We really love York and east coast walking.

We love the Lake District too but the rain for the last 15 months has been shocking.

Was looking at some new-build developments online this morning, specifically some 4 bed detached, 1 bathroom, 2 en-suites, double garage, high spec, blah, blah, blah, houses. Looked really nice plus would put an extra 250k in the pot for the kids as a bonus. This is not a big consideration as they will have plenty anyway but every little helps.

We are going to pay a visit to the area a couple of times this year to check out the situation. And will see what happens...

Would that be the same York that just happens to be in Yorkshire?

We moved into this house 1982. We both fell in love with it and it was/is our forever house.

We've had two houses in 44 years!

I've had three since I remarried 18 years ago.

4 if you count my old place in Scalloway that I'd barely lived in and had rented out for many years and still owned when I got together with Mrs D mk2.

I have owned the same house since I left my parents house and got married when I was 24. That’s not to say we haven’t attempted to move at least four or five times , we have even got as far as exchanging contracts twice . It’s just it’s always gone wrong , either the chain collapsed or my job has become iffy . The bottom line is we never disliked this house and the area enough to MAKE the move happen .
