Had a bit of a chat with Mrs SD who might want a bit of a change and one more big adventure together.

I stress that the chances of this, at least at the moment, are remote. But who knows...

... she is fancying moving out of the Lake District to somewhere east of York. Near the coast but not necessarily on it.

We really love York and east coast walking.

We love the Lake District too but the rain for the last 15 months has been shocking.

Was looking at some new-build developments online this morning, specifically some 4 bed detached, 1 bathroom, 2 en-suites, double garage, high spec, blah, blah, blah, houses. Looked really nice plus would put an extra 250k in the pot for the kids as a bonus. This is not a big consideration as they will have plenty anyway but every little helps.

We are going to pay a visit to the area a couple of times this year to check out the situation. And will see what happens...

We had chicken casserole today. Its not very warm here, only about 4 deg and overcast as well

I had a full English for brunch.
I am about to make my curry, probably 4/5 portions.
I would send a portion to Numbnuts but he never sends me one of his pies so 👆.

Big decision for you both.
You could always move near Welshie, they have a better class of rain there ^_^

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Salut.
Today is the last day ever that I paint a ceiling and tomorrow the last day ever that I do decorating.
You have been warned.

Yes, I have vowed never to paint again and will have decorators at some point this year
Painting a ceiling is OK. Masking them is a pain.

Mrs D does our decorating and she "colour washes", ie, paints the ceiling the same colour as the walls, makes life. Lot easier and looks great.
I've always thought this is a great look but Mrs P doesn't agree..............................we don't do it in our house............unsurprising given who is in charge.

I couldn't leave our village for many reasons, not least because several of our closest friends live just yards away and we all need each other. York, and Yorkshire in some respects, though is my spiritual home, we had four wonderful years living on Bootham. A few years ago I was riding the Way of the Roses and overnighted in York. On arriving in the city my first call was the Minster, rode up, "hugged" the wall and kissed it. This was a completely spontaneous and unexpected reaction on my part. I'd ridden 109 miles, I was nackered and it just felt so good to be home.............and it's 44 years since we left. I did get some funny looks from the tourists!!!

Can I ask whereabouts east of York you are looking at?

We are at a similar stage and are having discussions about moving out of Oxford. We are lucky we have a nice house, live in a very nice area but it’s insanely expensive (so our house is too small) plus we have been here for 22 years so a bit bored of it.

So thinking of moving further out possibly towards Cirencester and buying something nicer for about the same price. We are even considering selling putting the money in the bank and renting for 12 months to see if we like it, anyway what we have agreed on is that we are ready for a change and new adventure!

Picture a rectangle with Whitby being the northernmost latitude, Hull southernmost, York westernmost longitude and the coast forming the easternmost.

That would be an option for us - renting for a while.

It's what we did when we moved to the LD - although the rental was funded by my then employer. Result!
