I have just about zero knowledge of pooters. I rely on going to the Hewlett Packard website every 5 years or so and buying a PC (or latterly a lapop) from the upper end of the range.

This ensures a decent warranty from a reputable manufacturer and enough performance in hand they don't become obsolete within my notional 5 year cycle. The downside is it's a fairly expensive way of doing it but with no knowledge to fall back upon Im stuck.

Still, £2k for a laptop is nothing to the £26,000 the inland revenue relieved me of for 23-24, thieving bar stewards.

I also don't understand why people get excited about Android or Apple. Who cares? Does no one have anything more important to argue about? When Mrs D finally dragged me to a mobile phone shop the lass there asked me what I used the phone for - "scraping ice off the windscreen, and slipping it under the short leg of the wobbly dining room table. Oh, and I sometimes use it as a doorstop for the kitchen door." An embarrassed Mrs D then said, "He's not joking." Apparently the Pixel 8 pro is best for theee duties.

Good morning. Forecast for 09.00 is heavy rain and 25mph winds.........it's a bit grey and breezy at the moment.

So. Today? Must do the housework and ironing. I have to pop over to #2 son's house to fix a curtain rail. After that several minor jobs including removing the security tag from a bottle of champagne! My youngest gave it 2-3 years ago. He was mortified when I opened the box. I plan to take it to our neighbours tonight.

We will celebrate with good friends and neighbours tonight. Four households who've been friends for 42+ years. We've grown up together, laughed together, celebrated together. The days when Mrs P danced on a neighbour's dining room table have passed. (Yes, really!!) 🤣 Tonight will be a more sober affair with a Jacob's Join of curries, chat, games, maybe a film. I'm trying to get Road Diary, the Springsteen documentary, but failed so far.

I used to enjoy doing that sort of stuff. Purchasing the components from somewhere like Novatech and putting it all together, choosing the motherboard / processor / cooling fan / case / power supply etc. A bit like putting Lego together. I got used to decoding the pattern of beeps that the motherboards made if / when it was misconfigured.
Nowadays I'm happy with my MacBook Air and it's been years since Mrs Tkk volunteered my unpaid tech support services to her friends 😉

Sitting here using my iMac at the moment. Love it.

Another task today is a gym. I am on the comeback trail but as I know, and one of my buddies pointed out yesterday, regular winter riding is tough to get. I'm heading down to the local leisure centre to see what they have in the way of turbos, spinning etc.

Yesterday was embarrassing and depressing. I have plans for a fancy new bike. All the gear? No idea? No thanks.

This popped up on my Facebook feed on Sunday. I'm think 6000 for 2025. 2020 seems a long time ago. I rode the Fred in 9:17.......must try harder is the message.

High winds and raining (pouring actually) at the moment.

Two pairs of new curtains have arrived and need hanging - dull stuff like this does nothing for me.

Treadmill, turbo and multi-gym await. The latter will be fairly light as it will be the first use since I hurt my shoulder around 10 days ago.

Party for two night for us, so that will end up being mega-late as ever.

No real plans for tomorrow due to weather warnings.

Not much planned for the whole week tbh apart from Saturday night at the cinema to see Better Man - looks interesting.

Enjoy your day, all.

I'd say a CAT S60, S61 or S62 would be better suited than the Pixel 8.

Woke at circa 9am (as did the kiddos...they're quite good if left, they like a sleep)
Housework done.
Weather...I thought it was slightly overcast,.mild and still. But apparently its quite breezy, we live sandwiched with a row of houses either side so are very sheltered from Easterly/ Westerles. Dog.walk soon will tell me what it's really doing out there.
