I will close off 2024 with a little word of advice for my male friends on CC. We all know the danger of arguing with the female logic.

The scenario. We live in a terraced cottage. We are going to our next door but one neighbours for the evening. We all use the back door when we visit neighbours. It is heaving with rain.

Mrs P has just announced "I've said we will go to the front door as it's quicker."

Finally, after 46 years, I have learned it is best to remain silent. 😀

Lots of fireworks going on already.. I'll likely step out into the wind to watch a neighbours display that rivals the Sydney Harbour Bridge one!!

How does Bruce manage with the noise @Drago ?
Bonnie jumps if a paper bag blows past her but she doesn't bat an eyelid at fireworks, happily.. 👍

Just walked down to Dartmouth for a couple of pints with my daughter, now enjoying some spag bog with potato wedges and a large glass of Merlot.
Happy New Year everyone

Still hissing down here as well and the wind doesn't seem to be dying down either.

Happy new year to one and all.
Much the same here, wind included.

Supposed to be unlucky to say that before midnight.

Fortunately Bruce, like Lemmy before him, takes no notice. I guess it's the gun dog genes.

Mind you, the muppets up this end of town are letting them off and the wind is blowing them all over the place before they detonate. They'll be lucky not to hurt someone or start a fire.

Jeez - its not 10 yet and people are moanaing about bangs already (OK OK OK bangs yes it was deliberate)

anyway

we are now into a period where 25 years ago I was worrying abotu whether or not I had missed anything
and whether or not the people I had left at work were following the instructions I had left

OK - most of them knew what to do better that me but - for some stupid reason - I had allowed myself to become the person most associated with Y2K on a lot of the companies systems

I was not at work - because the company rules sadi I could not be paid - but Peter, who was as good as me, could be paid double time plus a day's pay plus a bonus
so - he went in and I went to my mother-in-law (well - my exs mother's) with my ex and our daughter

but all evening I was wondering about what I might have missed

turned out I had missed one thing
but we didn;t find out until March and it was fixed easily - and it was someone else's fault

anyway - takes me back

Planes falling out of the skies, computers not working, enormous amounts of data lost...

In reality not a lot happened.
