I'm actually looking forward to the prospect. I've a Webasto diesel heater and a thermal pop top cover so we'll be snug as a bug in a rug.

Good morning. Still dark but a good forecast so with luck I'll be able to cut grass and work on the allotment. First thing though is Mrs P's fortnightly immunotherapy. I've said I will stay at the hospital but she says not to. Instead I'm being despatched to Tesco for a shop and to leave her car with those "nice Polish men" to be valeted. They do an excellent job in 40 minutes which would probably take me two hours.

Life seems to be far too busy at the moment. I can't quite work out why. My knee was swollen and stiff last night and this, unusually, hasn't subsided overnight. I'm applying heat and will begin massaging with bio oil next. Then it's my exercise routine which I hope will loosen things.

Once that's done I'll fill in the time before hospital with general tidying. The house is a tip and it's a struggle to get on top of.

How does one dispose of a CO2 alarm with a non-replaceable battery? Surely not the bin?

It's just sitting on the kitchen worktop looking very sorrowful and emitting tiny, rather sad beeps.

Having a quiet Brucie cuddle while I sup my morning Nescafe.
