At a slight tangent:

I don't understand how new car salesmen are often unaware of the specification and features of specific models.

Lack of training, I see it often not just in car sales.

Chicken, onion, mushrooms, fresh chilli added.
Smells nice.
However it will go in the freezer as I am on cheese and crackers (brie and Shropshire Blue) ** for tea.

Customers would sometimes comment to me with words to the effect "we like dealing with you because you never have to get the catalogue out."

Good sales people understand their customer and product. Plus, if one doesn't know something admit and offer to find out. Confidence in the supplier is key for good buyers.

I had over 40 years in sales and have trained and mentored many successful sales people, in fact I still do this freelance.

A start is some eye contact and a sincere hello, if you can’t do that then you’re in the wrong job.
