@welsh dragon I keep meaning to ask. As you live on the edge of Snowdonia national park, have you managed to get to the top of Snowdon ?
If so did you walk or get the train ?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

I've never been up Snowdon. The weather is so changeable and unpredictabile. My grandsons have been up it though. They walked it with a load of friends. They said they had 4 seasons in one day.

I have walked it several times via different paths and been fortunate with the weather.
The last time, I was at the summit when a train arrived carrying a load of Japanese tourists. As they got off the cloud dropped so they couldnt see anything and stayed like that till they went back down.
A bit nasty really but it made me laugh.

I have been up there loads of time

but not for many years - always walked never used the train

I did start to plan another walk up there several years ago but decided that it would be silly as, athough i had all the right equipment, I didn;t have the knees, lungs or general fitness if things started to go a bit wrong
as it can on a mountain

Went up there in the middle of winter one year on a winter mountaineering course - that was fun!!

I’ve only been up on the train many years ago. I remember it was expensive even back then so God knows what it costs now. If I could be arsed I would google to check but can’t be bothered.

Curiosity got the better of me. £45 adult return on the diesel and £60 on the steam. I’m sure many years ago we thought it was expensive at something like £17.

Good morning from a grey and bright Dorset. Slept through to the 07:00 backup alarm and realised that it was in effect 06:00 the time I usually wake. Some appliances will have automatically adjusted their clocks, some will need adjusting and some are a lot more straightforward than others. Mrs Tkk and I were discussing central heating radiators, I hadn't realised that the old style iron ones that you see in older buildings / libraries / churches etc were in fashion and so eye wateringly expensive 😮. There is / was a fashion for radiator covers, a friend has one with an elaborate scroll work design, not for me but each to their own. What brought the subject to mind was when we were looking to get a replacement radiator to replace the inadequate one in the new kitchen and came across a work of ingenuity, truly worthy of a Yorkshireman, behold the repurposed radiator cover, I'm converted, Mrs Tkk is not so keen 😁

A lot of money if you have a family, that's for sure.
I first walked up aged about 12. I got Sue about 1/4 of the way up but that was a good experience for her.
Done it twice since.
No way I would try it in winter.

clocks done - car will do itself by magic when my phone gets in range
I think
not had to do this car before

at some point in the next month ro so I will have to do the sister-in-law's oven clock I suspect

They normally just leave it on whatever time zone it was

which I can;t cope with but if I try and do it they are all "oh no - don;t bother - it's fine"

Her husband is way too thick (seriously - I just have trouble even talking to him at time)
2 sons - one still living at home - one just up the road but none of then will do it

OK OK OK - I'm being sexist - women should be perfectly capable of changing a clock
but I have never come across a family where this was not very firmly in the "man's job" camp
however equal the partnership

The only thing I have to change is my watch and the car clock, although I haven't actually changed it in 14 years. I did read somewhere ( whether it's true or not) is that you can be fined for not doing so.

Surely not. That doesn’t make much sense? I had to do the big clock on the living room wall manually and the microwave. I don’t bother with the cooker as I switch it off at the wall when not in use after my near disaster last year. I will have to do the car next time I’m in it.
