My grandparents bought A Bush one in the mid 1950's. When my grandma died in 1997 my mum and dad inherited it and when mum ended up in a care home it went with her. When she died 5 years ago my brother, without my consent let his son have it as at the time he was 'into vinyl'. I was very annoyed as it was a family heirloom. My brother's son could've bought a simple new record player, which would've given a better sound anyway. As I expected when it went I knew I'd never see it again and when I asked brother where it was after his son had finished his fad I was told it stopped working so they binned it! What a 2 hat I thought! It wasn't worth much, probably about 50 quid, but it was worth a lot sentimental wise.

The ears are a give away. I've not worked out whether they are getting bigger or my head is getting smaller but either way, it's a sign of aging.

When you meet up with former work colleagues for a drink and the first half hours spent talking about illnesses and injuries.

I have a rule that we don't discuss medication, ailments or doctors. This includes NPF.
Unless there is some humour or amusement to be had.
Also old, former significants are off limits. I notice with one couple there is a relationship that still causes a reaction after over 50 years.

I recently bought "War of the Worlds on CD.
I had to play it on a Blu-ray player, as I don't have a CD player that isn't up in the loft somewhere...

Fun trivia about that album, the famous cover was painted by Mike Trim who worked as an artist on Gerry Anderson stuff like Thunderbirds, UFO etc, designing some of the craft. I once met him at a sci-fi event & he kindly signed my copy. I don't have a CD player anymore too. Like yourself, they get played in the blu-ray player (I've always liked that tech expression 'backwards computable').
