Date of birth is part of your ID in our NHS. You cannot avoid giving it as proof that you really are you.
Otherwise I make up some fiction but best to remember who you gave it to.

Sure for government organisations but that’s a tiny tiny fraction of websites and you don’t need to enter it as the NHS already knows your DOB. I don’t need to enter my DOB when logging into NHS digital, nor should I.

I need to give my date of birth every time I interact with our NHS. It is built into the system and even regular things like reordering medication needs my DOB as proof of identity.

Non NHS systems I agree should have no need of my DOB.

Some do, most don't. Sites selling alcohol, for instance, need to know you are over 18.

But many sites ask for it without having any actual need for it other than for demographic analysis of their customers. Most such sites though, it is an optional field.
