Yes, pretty much. I’m past caring what most people think of me now!

It is like when someone says your attitude might impact your career. At 20 years old you might have listened, but near the end of your working age, who cares?

Anyone says that to me I'm liable to sigh deeply and say 'please don't use impact as a verb'. :stop:
Why?

Every dictionary definition I can find includes verb meanings for impact (whether UK or US dictionaries, and never specifying that it is US usage).

[EDIT]
Actually Longman Dictionary does say especially in American English.
But none of Dictionary.com, Cambridge, Collins, Mirriam-Webster, Brittanica do.

Because, forsooth, it offends mine ear.

It is amazing how little people think about long term money
Somebody please tell me that they also were wondering who exactly these "little people" are. Just another sign of old age.

But on that 'long term thinking', sadly I think a lot of people don't have the luxury of being able to think long term - they're getting by on a day to day basis.

that is one of the benefits of getting older, I genuinely don’t really care anymore.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I don't care (in fact it matters to me greatly what certain people think of me!) but I have become more aware of my own reactions and feel less beholden to them than I once was.

Or put another way, I would prefer that everyone liked me but accept with good grace that that's just not going to happen.

Bad grammar, misspelled words… both signs of our times. Everything today has to be done in minutes, where an hour used to be sufficient. Remember the days when quality newspapers and magazines almost never had typographical or grammatical errors?

Back in the days when everything on paper was typed on manual typewriters, (pre-IBM Selectric even, not to mention even Word Processors or “Computers”) my dad was the Assistant Managing Editor of the Wall Street Journal. In addition to editing, he wrote front page articles once a month or so as well. Anyway, back in those times it was truly impressive how there seemed to almost never be mistakes of any kind. Fast forward to today, with everything needing to be on social media within seconds of when it happens, it’s no surprise there are every type of terrors to be found on a regular basis.

Apparently in today’s age, a job done well yes is considered second rate to a job done fast. I still value quality over speed, Ming. I suppose it is just another thing that brands me as an old timer. So be it!

The CC board is also as close as I get to social media. I have no need for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tic Tok, Pinterest or SnapChat (or Strava for that matter, but let's not get int that here!)

CM, don’t forget the triple doozie of them all… their, they're or there!
There used to be something called Proof Reading where somebody else had a quick check that it all looked ok.
I my working days my office had everything checked independently and both parties working separately had to get the same result as quantities were of prime importance. HM Customs and Excise worked out their figures and I worked out mine separately to make sure our calculations were correct. Even instrument reading were done by both of us, each with our own instruments and we had to agree before going on to the next stage. All the records were also double checked.

I worked in a council community centre and the manager insisted that anything going out on headed paper had to be checked for spelling and grammar by him personally. He got incredibly frustrated that all the graduate social workers, teachers, specialists etc could not write a simple letter without mistakes.

Try receiving an internal email from central management where the organisation you work for is titled "Boarder Force"
