Sorry the rolling stock pic isn't great, not quick enough - but I'd like to recommend this station (and line) in NI..

You can hop off the Belfast - Derry line (cheap as) at a station called Bellerina and then make your way a few miles north to the get a little ferry to Inishowen from Magilligan.
There's even a beach there to camp on if you'd prefer to stay over and get the morning ferry.

A proper treat for those of us who love a train, bike, boat combo.

Just be warned the (car) drivers go everywhere like they're trying to outrun their demons (or angels)
Proper cycle touring with panniers and a bar bag , none that trendy new fangled bike packing.:notworthy:

Well in truth I've probs got the same kind of things inside my panniers as the bikepacking mob

But these are the panniers I already own, and I can't pretend that I need 'extra clearance' for gnarly' rock hopping or owt .

66564 pulling various freight containers thru Pilning this morning.

Followed by this electric multiple unit that was heading to Gloucester, hadn't seen one of these before, it carried the no. 756104.

Anyone have any info on these...?

They're made by Stadler, but a slightly different design to fit all the equipment into the UK's smaller loading gauge; I'll be travelling on a local version this weekend so I'll try and take a picture.

They're the new Transport for Wales stock, maybe it's doing a test run? They've been going up and down the line towards Swindon a lot recently.

As Andy says, new Stadler units. They look near-identical to the 755s on Greater Anglia, including the short 'power-pack' car in the middle for non-electrified operation. Nice trains inside, especially if you end up with the same bike space as on the GA units.

Is that your tent in the white bag.

I've just upgraded my tent bag to a dry bag which will keep it dry.

I could also put my sleeping Matt in it too freeing up pannier space!

Man I need another tour and I've only been back a week!!

And a little hint for bike users if the 3 or 4 carriage units are numbered like the 755s we have on the Greater Anglia network - the unit number is on the panel under the windscreen as it heads toward you. If the cycle storage area is at the front there will be a little solid triangle before the number. If there's no triangle, the cycle storage area will be at the rear.

Clever stuff, I hadn't noticed that

I knew I had a shot to show this - the number on this one doesn't have a triangle so the cycle storage area was at the rear. I don't know if any of the other companies use this method.
