Hello from Canada. A few pictures from Jasper, Alberta, and a trip I've wanted to do for years, The Rocky Mountaineer.

House I'm going to look at today is close to the west cost main line. I cant say I'm a pn anal train twitcher, but I do like the railways. One of society's better achievements.

Alas, neither. The nearest railway bridge is about 200 metres away, the track down in a cutting, hence it being relatively quiet. The next bridge is probably even better for watching, and that's only another 200 metres further on.

You lot would like daughter #1's house. She lives in Lidlington, Bedfordshire, right on the village boundary. From the summer house in her garden you can watch the trains go by on what is going to be part of the forthcoming Cambers to Oxford link. There's a lovely quaint little crossing and platform in the village too, so heavenly for you train twitchers.

08:10 the overnight sleeper came past; the private light blue version seems to have been short lived and we're back to the mix of German, Austrian and Swiss carriages.

I really must put on an alarm so I can be ready to take a picture.

Sorry the rolling stock pic isn't great, not quick enough - but I'd like to recommend this station (and line) in NI..

You can hop off the Belfast - Derry line (cheap as) at a station called Bellerina and then make your way a few miles north to the get a little ferry to Inishowen from Magilligan.
There's even a beach there to camp on if you'd prefer to stay over and get the morning ferry.

A proper treat for those of us who love a train, bike, boat combo.

Just be warned the (car) drivers go everywhere like they're trying to outrun their demons (or angels)

And just around the corner from Millbrook too, for the automotive enthusiasts.
