It’s an interesting place

If you feel like spending a few (quite a few!) ££s, have a ‘TT Trike Tour’, you’ll appreciate the rider’s commitment/bravery/skill a whole lot more after it!

My dad rode sidecar on the track and road till I came along.... 🤣😢

Network Rail's class 313, 313121 has been preserved and reached it's new home earlier... In Fife... FIFE!

I doubt it has ever been further north than about Crewe! 🤪 😆

OK it’s nice an example has been preserved. I’m definitely not a fan , I spent many years travelling on them on the Euston - Watford DC line .

Better than a p*cer though! 😆

To be fair, being dual voltage, it's still a clever (if dated) bit of kit.
I agree both your points .
Fortunately my train travel involved limited use of P****
The dual voltage would have been useful for flexible use of stock on the North London Line and the Watford DC line .

That's where they were used as well as on the Moorgate/KGX services out to Welwyn, Stevenage, Royston, etc.

The last of them were cascaded down to the Coastway services, i.e.Brighton to Seaford, Eastbourne and the other way along towards Portsmouth.
313201 (313001, the original production 'PEP'), works these services and was painted in original Blue and Grey livery.

It may be preserved, it might not, but it is all as clear as mud right now (The NRM were going to take it, but was then dropped (surprise surprise!))

The one preserved was a former 'Great Northern' (KGX) unit and was then used by Network Rail as a measurement unit.

I regularly use the Class 165 / 166 's on the Severn Beach Line and have to say the cycle storage is dreadful.

Why can't the train companies explore some decent storage for bikes.

'Cos it's a case of cram as many passengers on as possible and nobody wants empty space that wont be constantly used.
Sad, but true.

That said, Scotrail have taken on a small fleet of class 153s' for such a task on the West Highland Line, so it can be done when there's a will.

It's a Class 158 today, they're even worse for bike spaces... 🙄
