Gareth Southgate had a pair on tonight with a suit for his post match interview, it's not a good look.
if you thought that was bad, you should've been in the local Tesco yesterday! Woolly socks and 'sliders', baggy, bum down to the knees nearly, grey 'sweat pants' (one was showing her bum cleavage:ohmy:), crocs, ugg boots, bellies hanging out under scruffy t-shirts and a sea of black, man made fibre stuff!

Bobby Robson would never have been that slovenly.
Heck! There was I thinking after I read your post, that he would've had a shirt and tie, maybe even his 'trademark' waistcoat on as well. Then I saw on the match highlights that he wore a sports type top with the suit , as well as the trainers!

... But enough about your outfit changes during the day...

Yes, I must admit that is my concern. The brogue type ones aren't too trainer(ish) though, wouldn't you say? 🤔
I'm after some footwear that'd look ok with that linen suit I've bought. I have some Herring make boat shoes, but do boat shoes go with a suit, albeit it a casual one?🤔 I also have a pair of brown Loake suede brogues. I do think they'd be suitable, but you know how it is, one style of shoe just isn't enough!

Just wear some smart tan semi-brogues or oxfords rather than looking like a twat wearing trainers with a suit (or wearing trainers at all if not actually going for a run)

I wore my 1950's heavy wool (6.5 lbs in weight), double breasted, 10 inch below the knee coat and Christys fedora this aft. I got quite a few looks. One woman said I looked like something out of the Bugsy Malone film.

Now those look like eminently suitable semi-casual shoes to wear with your linen suit. You need to get this ghastly trainers notion out of your head right now !

They are boots, not shoes. https://www.herringshoes.co.uk/loak...ce=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_campaign=Sh
I've had then for two years. They are warm and water resistant in autumn/winter, but they'd be uncomfortable on warm days and also look out of place on a linen suit. Maybe you'd get away with it on a brown summer suit, but not a light grey one, if you don't mind the odd combination.

Thanks to you all for advising against white trainers with a suit, or just pants/trousers, no matter how informal the suit/pants are! :okay: A 62 year old dressing like he's, er lost the plot, isn't a good look! I've decided to instead spend my pennies on a decent panama hat. I've had two before and sadly both didn't last that long. One got crumpled after someone sat on it and the other developed a hole that got bigger and bigger, on the front meets top bit of the crown. I fancy this one. What do you think about it? 🤔

I tend to see Panama hats as somewhet consimable so never bought a very expensive one. Also I've always bought foldable ones, and despite the name, rolling them up does rather take its toll and they tend to the Worzel Gummage lool eventually. My current one was around 40 euro, though bought in Venice so likely more than it should have been, but it's quite a good one.

One word of warning - bought one from M&S once - seemed OK but the internal headband was a rubbery material rather than leather so it was horrid to wear. Ripped out the rubber band but it went out of shape. Whilst not sure I want to pay Christie price thougj

Ooh, those are nice and not silly money. Trouble is my Mrs already, and I confess with some justice, reckons I'm a bit of an Imelda.
I did get carried away by various bargain Crockett and Jones off fleabay, though I've
more than a lifetime's supply in stock now. And Crocketts last a very long time and will resole many times roo
