I'm afraid I'm now known as Foggy round the village. It seems my venerable old M1965 pattern combat jacket, cloth cap, and occasional use of walking stick have granted me more than a passing resemblance to Foggy Dewhurst.
Now just a dawg gone minute here.i thought you had gone missing in action, nice to see you back.Mind you my marbles are a bit loose at the moment it might not have been you but i am sure it was.

Surely a Man with your style and savour- faire will have his personal Taylor on call. Altering the inseam should be no problem.
now then who is this Taylor bloke you write about,is he from Saville Row,or is he Taylor the tailor.

Aw, never mind. It'll be warm enough soon to dig those cargo shorts ( even worse with tassels :stop: ) and 'sliders' out!!

If I ever put sliders on, or shoes with tassels, my wife has permission to have me committed.

I do wear cargo shorts though, where else can I put all my gubbins if I don't have all those pockets 🤔😉

When it comes to altering one's inseam, it's all very well having one on call, but the question is how rapidly can the alteration be made, which can be vital to one's social standing. Not to put too fine a point on it, is one's Taylor Swift?

Why would anyone buy new pants/trousers at the going rate (as in not greatly reduced in price) then pay someone to alter them? I boxed those too long Peter Christian trousers up and sent them back, ticking the reason for return box on the returns form, asking for a 31 inch inseam. It won't cost a penny to send them back and receive a replacement, apart from the petrol it costs to drive the 12 miles there and back to the postal sorting place, if I'm not in when they arrive at my door. Yes, I could've paid some maybe not too good at doing a tidy job 20 quid to alter them, but why, just why would you do that, when it isn't necessary?! 🤔

I don't know what it's like down your way but I've always been able to find places that can do good quality and sometimes complicated alterations.

There is a shop that does alterations five minutes walk from me, but they're always closed. I wouldn't trust them with a pair of pants though. Old ones maybe, but not brand new and again why would you take new pants to be altered when you can simply ask the supplier for a different size? 🤔

You can't always do that.

If you are ordering new online, you will always have the right of return, but they may not have the alternative size you need. And if you buy from a shop, you won't automatically have any right of return unless they re faulty.

Yes, if that's the case then have them altered, but in my case Peter Christian offer a decent returns policy, providing you haven't worn or altered items. The bloke who owns the clothing shop I work in bought some designer jeans last week for £230. They're some obscure Japanese make, he traveled 26 miles to Manchester to buy. According to him they were/are too long, so even though the shop owner said he could get them in his size in a few days, he told me he couldn't wait so he bought the too long in the leg ones and altered them himself by taking/sewing them up. I would've waited for the shop to get a shorter leg, asking them to post them to me if I couldn't be bothered to travel back to the shop.

What's with the latest scruffy trend I'm seeing? I've seen three, or is it four 🤔 early middle age to late middle age (ok, I'm talking 40 to 70) men wearing tight leggings with baggy shorts over them. Now You could be forgiven for thinking they'll have been on a five a side football pitch etc, but no this is in Tesco and one was even leaving a pub! The one I saw in Tesco yesterday had union jack shorts over grey leggings...and crocs! Don't they realise how scruffy they look or are they just not bothered?:headshake:

It's because every time they park outside a gentleman's menswear shop they get reported for pavement parking so they have to go to Tesco instead...

They're probably not bothered. Clothes are just clothes after all.

That said, I'm going to a black tie event this weekend, and have just taken delivery of this:

I was a little concerned it would look like I was dressing up, but nope, it looks mint.
