The newspapers seem to be ignoring the exciting Championship race. There is more to footie than the Prem League.

Yep, and has been the case for a long, long time. The top four are out of sight of the pack but fighting it out for 1st and 2nd.

Below them 5th down to 11th have a decent chance of the play offs with 5 points separating 7 clubs. Their records this season are so similar any side that can up its performance can steal a march on the rest.

I reckon any side averaging 2 points a game for the rest of the season will make the playoffs. That's a very big ask.

I agree that it's a surprise that he couldn't wait until the end of the season. Its not like he is overseas but if what is reported is true, and he is living out of a hotel and his move to the midlands would favour his family life then I suppose that could be a massive pull for him and his family and I also suppose an opportunity wouldn't be guaranteed in the summer that favours all that. I know there is likely more to it than that but we can't possibly understand the magnitude this situation has on his on private life. Hopefully Rovers can move forward with a more favourable appointment.

There's nothing unusual about a football manager's home being long way from the club he works for. The nature of the job and schedule must make this very difficult for family life. My wife and I chose to stay in our house for 40+ years because we valued our surroundings, local friendships etc. above everything. We only considered jobs with a reasonable commute. Therefore I completely get the family aspect given for his move.

Despite that I'm sure there is far more in the background than is being told. Rovers have been owned by Venkys for 15 years. In that time the senior club management has been a complete sh*t show, Venkys have not visited Blackburn in ten years and no one comprehends why they retain ownership.

It's a complete mystery to all of us.

Pompey won away for only the second time this season, and first points away after seven straight losses. 2-0 against Oxford. Going the right way…

I think he will regret that decision.

I think so as well. Based on the last two games, obviously I saw yesterday, the team seem determined to make the play offs. We have six new signings and all our long- term injuries should be fit by the end of February. This is going to give us one hell of squad for the final 12 matches. If we maintain our season long form (1.7 points/game) we will be on 73 points. That secured sixth spot last season and as the table stands no one can catch us, again based on season long form.

Last season 51 points secured 21st and survival. Derby need 22 points from 13 games to achieve this. Their season long form is 0.9 points per game. They need 1.7 points per game. They have to play 4 of the bottom 6 (big plus), and 3 of the top 6 including Rovers. This gives Eustace 13 games to achieve the level of performance he instilled in Rovers. I really don't think it will happen.

One thing is certain I will be watching with great interest but not glee. I recognise what Eustace achieved at Ewood.

My lad has just been in touch to ask if we can childmind on March 8th? His best friend's employer sponsors Derby County and he has two tickets. My lad is going corporate. I raised him a diehard Rover. As it happens his mate is a Rover but not diehard like my boy.

That's going to be a fun day for them.

Forest slip a bit again. Nerves or formation against Fulham ? Or perhaps Fulham were just better ?
Elanga pretty much ineffective apparently which might point to the changed formation. The top 5, barring Liverpool of course, could get quite tight
