Phew, Forest made hard work of it tonight. TBF it wasn't their normal side for the greater part and until MGW and Anderson came on, they didn't really impress me. Exeter were really good at times, really wanted it but equally we're really put under pressure at times. But PL players I suppose would always have the edge at penalties.
Well done Exeter, put up a good game.

Exeter were excellent tonight, and it was great to see Big Josh playing again, a favourite of mine when he was with us.

I saw his butt when a pal and I were given a tour of Shielfied Park by Eric Tait when we played a friendly against Berwick Rangers a few seasons ago.

I watched Man City blow another game last night. At times they had the beating of RMD but blew it with 2 terrible mistakes.
Can't imagine them beating RMD away.

Very unlikely, Real have dominated the competition more effectively than anyone else.

I saw someone refer to the game as El Corruptico which tickled me.

The coach's position at Rovers gets more interesting. Less than 30 minutes ago the club announced:

"Discussions between Blackburn Rovers and another Championship club over the future of John Eustace and his backroom staff remain ongoing.

As a result, David Lowe will lead the team for tonight’s important Championship fixture against West Bromwich Albion, supported by Damien Johnson, Ben Benson, Mike Sheron and Paul Butler."

The release clause in Eustace's contract is said to be £750,000. Derby County have posted losses totalling £26.5m over the seasons 22/23 and 23/24. Possibly there are release clauses for the other staff???

Locally the story is Rovers are playing hard ball and Derby don't have the cash. If this falls apart I can't imagine where this leaves Eustace? Saturday could be a fun day!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Why would he want to leave Rovers to go to a club in such trouble ?

Local opinion is he feels the club didn't back him in the transfer window. We signed six, four on short-term contracts, three of these played on Sunday and looked promising. I think short-term contracts make sense for a club like Rovers at this stage of the season. If we go up there can be discussions with those players, if we don't then the club isn't over committed.

There's also no doubt the club is poorly managed and no one understands what our owners want from owning the club. I can understand Eustace being very frustrated by this.

Meanwhile WBA 0 2 Rovers 👍🤣

How rude of you @PaulSB. You completely ignored my goodwill message, instead posting a message to another member who no disrespect to him has little interest in Blackburn Rovers, unlike me who watched them for decades. As soon as the final whistle went I posted a message to you about Rovers fine win. You obviously have a bee in your bonnet after I asked you for your opinion on Rovers losing their manager, with you seemingly interpreting it as me questioning your opinion, not asking for your opinion and even if I had questioned your opinion, are we not allowed to question opinions on a public forum. I stay adamant that it was a genuine question, not a provocative one.

Another very poor result for Luton. I was expecting mid table or similar at the start of the season, but another relegation looking more and more likely.

Sadly Luton's demise reminds me of Northampton Town's climb up the leagues season after season to the then first division in the 1960's. Then dropping back down to the 4th division in almost successive seasons, only avoiding relegation for one season till they eventually went all the way back down.

John Eustace and his coaching team have left Ewood to go to Derby County. My feeling is he has taken a massive gamble. If he stayed at Rovers till the summer his stock would be very high by getting us into or very close to the play offs. If we were promoted he would have become very hot property.

Eustace joined relegation bound Rovers in February '24 with 17 games to go. We gained 19 points over those games, staying up with a spectacular away win at Leicester on the final day. Without that result we would have been relegated.

Derby have 29 points and 14 games left. With the same points ratio they will have 44 at the end of the season. Last season Birmingham were relegated with 50 points. To stay up Derby need to average 1.5 points a game. By chance this is Rovers season average with a far better squad.

It's no secret the wheels are looking a bit loose on our promotion push. Until last night we've only taken 8 points from 10 games, hardly promotion form.

I think Eustace leaving could be the extra push we need to reach the play offs. I don't understand Eustace's decision and in his shoes I would have waited till the summer. There's a strong chance he will come to regret his decision.

I agree that it's a surprise that he couldn't wait until the end of the season. Its not like he is overseas but if what is reported is true, and he is living out of a hotel and his move to the midlands would favour his family life then I suppose that could be a massive pull for him and his family and I also suppose an opportunity wouldn't be guaranteed in the summer that favours all that. I know there is likely more to it than that but we can't possibly understand the magnitude this situation has on his on private life. Hopefully Rovers can move forward with a more favourable appointment.
