Too good for football,Denis Law.

A great player fondly remembered by Man United fans despite moving to City and scoring the goal which helped get them relegated. That would be unthinkable today and he'd need to be surrounded by bodyguards.

Gone to the big pitch in the sky.
Met him a few times at our local hockey club where his daughter plays. Seemed like a nice guy and a football legend.

If I remember rightly, ex Netherlands and Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp was named after Denis Law, albeit it spelt with two nn's not one, because his parents were Man Utd fans. I remember that Manchester derby when he back heeled the ball into the Utd net, with very little enthusiasm on his face. On the subject of that 'iconic' match, Tony Book the former Man City captain died the other day aged 90, probably having played in that same game. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ckgr0ely6geo

If memory serves me right didn't he play for City prior to joining United?

Tevez, Cole and Schmeichel have all played for both clubs in more recent times. Pretty sure they're all OK.

I saw him a few times at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester. One day, I was with a colleague of mine who was a lifetime United fan and I told him I'd seen Dennis Law there many times and he told me he'd love to see him. We were having lunch in that cafe just inside the main doors. We finished our food and I went one way while my colleague went over to the bins to deposit his food detritus and I saw Law walking down the corridor away from us and get into a lift. My colleague came back up to me and I said, "See that arm there?" which you could just see as the lift doors closed. "Well that's Dennis Law's arm!" He thought I was pulling his sipper (Sp) when a woman rushing up the corridor got to the lift button just in time and the lift door opened revealing I was indeed telling the truth about Dennis Law.
