There was an event bigger shock in Scotland as Queens Park knock Rangers out of the Scottish Cup.

First ever Scottish Cup victory for them at Ibrox, and their first win in the competition against Rangers since 1882.

Brilliant stuff, particularly the injury time penalty save.

Another season over for Rangers!

Rovers v Wolves today. The first FA Cup meeting between the clubs since the infamous 1960 Cup final. How times have changed. It's a 12.30 KO. If this goes to extra time and penalties the match could take 2¾ hours. I thought one argument for abandoning replays was to protect the players? The poor tired loves.

Locally the view is while we want to win, given a choice, three points away to WBA on Wednesday would be more valuable. Especially after yesterday's league results.

It's going to be the three points on Wednesday then. 🤣 Rovers were genuinely denied the opening goal by a poor offside decision. The goal was good. Our new boy who beat the defender and then dived looking for a penalty was deservedly booked.

There was very little between the teams and a full strength Rovers might have got the result. I watch very little PL football and then it's the top 5 or 6. The gulf is huge. Based only on today the bottom of the PL and top of the Championship aren't much different.

Probably not, but their season isn't over wouldn't you say as they are still involved in a very high level competition. By the same token you could say such as Aston Villa's and Nottingham Forest's seasons are over as they probably won't win the Premier League or the FA Cup.

Ok then, their domestic season is over.

Both Villa and Forest have a more realistic shot at the FA Cup.

With Liverpool out of the FA cup, suddenly all the mid table teams will start to think this is their year. Especially as the other so called big clubs look vulnerable.
There isn’t really any team left who would scare the likes of Brighton, Palace, Fulham, Forrest etc.

But fans moan about VAR and then moan about not having VAR.
either way mistakes will happen, but you hope that VAR will eliminate the absolute howlers.

I wasn't trying to make a point about VAR, simply that I understand why people were upset about that goal. Rovers were denied a perfectly good opening goal on Sunday by a wrongly given offside.

There is no VAR in the Championship and long may that continue. My own view is it disrupts and takes something away from the game. I would abolish VAR from next season but that won't happen.

How's that then?

You know that Aston Villa and Nottingham Forrest have maybe a slightly better chance of winning the FA Cup than Rangers have of winning the Europa League yet you pretend that they have a far better chance! Your statement that Rangers season was over was so untrue and you know it! Maybe it'd slipped your mind that they were safely into the knockout round of the Europa League in March I don't know, but to say that their season is/was over well that just sounds quite silly doesn't it!! :cuppa:
