Remarkably little transfer action so far by Luton Town. Possibly looking like they are accepting that it's a one season stay in the PL and building for the future rather than splashing out big money on a load of new players that they will then be stuck with.

Something Burnley did a few seasons back and it served them well until the club was sold and the new owners piled on debt to leverage the buy out. Much the same as the Glazers did to Utd. Awful people.

Utrecht have signed five or six young attacking midfielders, which is a bit of a change in policy. Usually they take five or six aging attacking midfielders on loan for one season. The new signings include one from Man Utd and one from Arsenal. The two current strikers, Douvikas (joint top scorer in the Eredivisie last season) and Booth, will probably get sold for much-needed readies. Outstanding goalkeeper Barkas has reuturned to Celtic at the end of his loan period. Unfortunately the arhtritic carthorses otherwise known as the back four are still in place rather than in the donkey sanctuary.

Leeds United have been linked to all and sundry.Mind you at the moment i am not bothered. We got lumbered with a lot of overpriced clowns.Who did a great job on falling over many times. My prediction mid table survival.
My Leeds Utd fan of 44 years, mate will once again be spending this coming season travelling over 100 miles there and back to watch Leeds! He's moving from Blackburn to Warrington soon. I thought it'd be an even longer journey, but due to that V shaped motorway journey from east Lancs to Leeds, Warrington is only a mile further than Blackburn to Leeds. However, it's still a fair way to travel by car and many times he makes the trip on the train so he can have about 10 pints of cider before and after the game! Would I travel that far every other week to watch a football match? No I wouldn't! I find it difficult motivating myself these days to travel the 3 miles from my flat to Accrington Stanley's ground! :okay:

Just listening to 'The Sunday Night Club' on Talk TV/Radio, where they're on the subject of dementia form heading footballs. There's the daughter of a well known 1970's player on as I post, who's father died from dementia, blamed on ball heading. Yes, it's sad this happens, but many folk die from injuries or illnesses brought on due to their line of work! My dad died from esophageal cancer due to breathing in MDF/Formica particles and diesel fumes during his 49 years as a coach/bus builder. His apprentice in the 1970's died the other month from the same cancer, though glue fumes were also blamed in his case as he also fitted/glued the rubber floors on buses. Footballers are not a special case! I wonder if some of this 'ball heading dementia' is all due to that or is some of it brought on my alcohol abuse? Many players are very well paid with maybe too much free time on their hands!

As I post they are now on about footballers gambling addiction.

A cracking night at Ibrox last night for McGregor's testimonial against Newcastle. It was a good send off for a great servant to our club, and nice to get a first look at the new boys who will hopefully soon realise that we need to see much more from them.

McGregor was a cracking keeper. Scotland have had many over the years. He and Gordon remind me a bit of Goram and Leighton.

Yeah definitely. We have had an array of quality keepers over the years, despite our reputation to the contrary.

Obviously, McGregor is taking all the plaudits right now, but for me, Goram was the cream of the crop.

Totally agree. I'd have liked to see Marshall and Cammy given more of a chance, but it is what it is.
