Pleased to see MK got relegated. Usual online moaning from Pompey fans about failure to get promoted, 'Eisner out', etc…can't say I'm happy about it, but I'd much rather have the current off-pitch stability to the mess of all-too-recent past. If and when we get to the Championship we'll have a better chance of staying there.

Man U and Newcastle doing their best to not qualify for the Champions League…

Accy selling Colby Bishop to Pompey at the start of the season, then not replacing him. Even though our Chairman gave the club it's biggest spending budget ever, was our downfall!!

Barney Ronay once again showing an excellent way with words…
"By the time he came off on 57 minutes seeing Weghorst involve himself, gamely, in every aspect of play was like watching someone make a lot of noise making a cup of tea, except after 10 minutes of crashing around you look up and they’re balancing on top of a cupboard, sieving a bowl of raspberries into a saucepan and spilling noodles all over the floor, and doing it all quite well, but it’s just, well, not really, what we were, oh never mind, carry on".

Well, we didn't make that 17 - 0 to stay up  and even if we had those above us won, so....

SUN 07 MAY 2023 LEAGUE ONE
Oxford United1 Accrington Stanley

At least Morecambe came down with us, so that'll replace the potential derby matches lost, with Rochdale dropping to the National League.

According to reports, Accy played very well today, albeit against a club/team with nothing to play for, so maybe they weren't really trying. If only we'd played very well in one or two other matches we'd have survived, but as we know life is full of 'if only's'!

I’ve been to quite a few Oxford home games this season but I didn’t go to this one. I’ve heard from people who did, that the 300 or so Accrington fans were brilliant, singing all the time. Also, your team showed spirit coming back from 1-0 down to win. Shame that you’ve gone down. It’s been an awful season for both Accrington and Oxford. We only survived by winning the two games prior to this one. Hopefully, you will bounce back up.

Thanks for that! We definitely need a very good at League 2 level striker for next season! Maybe even two, as knowing our luck, the one main striker would get a long term injury! We've had 5 decent years in League 1, which at the time of promotion from League 2, I expected a club of our size to last. Relegation to League 2 won't affect the amount of home fans we get, but obviously the big clubs won't be visiting, meaning far less away fans. Ah well, every cloud has a silver lining as they say, meaning I should be able to get a seat at all, not just half the home games next season!:okay:

Very heavy rain forecast here for 3.00pm which will see me nervously sat in front of the box watching Millwall v Rovers while repeatedly refreshing the BBC app for other scores. By 5.00pm I will either be jubilant at Rovers reaching the play-offs or booking the late May holiday Mrs P has been asking me to do for about a month!

Our season boils down to this. To reach the play-offs Rovers must win at Millwall while Sunderland and West Brom both fail to win. Simple.

The national league plays off are a marathon not a sprint, but local to me Boreham Wood and St Albans both over hurdle 1 in their respective leagues

Interestingly all 3 away teams (Kidderminster also won) prospered

Another away win for St Albans on penalties at Dartford. One more away playoff to go at Oxford city....

That was a massive win for West Ham, all but safe now.
I went last night and there was a cracking atmosphere.
I saw the Sky highlights when i got home and it looked like it was all Man Utd which was so far from the truth.
Man Utd played well in patches but they were well below par and surprisingly didn't show a lot of urgency.
I know i might be biased but West Ham deserved that win even though it was from a soft goal.
