Notts have only drawn with Boreham Wood this season. The Italians abandon the play offs when the second place side is so far ahead. Pity that does not apply here.

It’s tricky as everyone knows the rules at the start of the season.
You can’t really change them to suit a situation.
I’m still not a fan of the Rugby Union championship where the team who finishes top of the league isn’t the champion, they end up having to play a final deciding game. But the argument is it makes it more exciting and everyone knows the format when they start.

well the reason is actually because there are a number of games that the clubs have to release their international players for, which was the reason it was designed that way, so those teams aren't deprived of the title by virtue of say losing 3 games in the 6N window.

I prefer the way they are done, definite advantage the higher up in the table you finish.
If Notts don't win them it will be an absolute travesty!
It should have been a straight forward final between Notts County and Chesterfield or just give it to Notts County for finishing second.
When you think Boreham Wood could be promoted after finishing 35 points behind Notts County is ridiculous.
Play offs, just another rule they brought out to make money.
Mind you i suppose i shouldn't complain as West Ham got promoted via the play offs to the EPL after finishing sixth in the Championship season 2004/05

Strange fact about Notts County is they have only been promoted through the playoffs when, if the playoffs did not exist, they would have been promoted anyway. Both under Neil Warnock's management. In 1989/90 when the beat Bolton 18 pts behind and Tranmere 7 pts behind, and the following season beating Middlesbrough 11 pts behind and Brighton 10 pts behind

Neil Warnock aka Colin ;)
That still makes me chuckle

Well, we didn't make that 17 - 0 to stay up  and even if we had those above us won, so....

SUN 07 MAY 2023 LEAGUE ONE
Oxford United1 Accrington Stanley

At least Morecambe came down with us, so that'll replace the potential derby matches lost, with Rochdale dropping to the National League.

According to reports, Accy played very well today, albeit against a club/team with nothing to play for, so maybe they weren't really trying. If only we'd played very well in one or two other matches we'd have survived, but as we know life is full of 'if only's'!

My Leeds Utd fan friend sent me a gloating text @Slick, saying "Oh dear, you'll be playing the now very wealthy club from Wales next season", complete with a :giggle: emoji! I replied "Hopefully Leeds will be playing not one, but two clubs from Wales next season :hello:"! Mmm, he hasn't yet replied! 🤔 Can give it, but can't take it springs to mind!!
