Wait till Leicester beat Southampton later you'll be panicking then.

That could annoy Nottingham Forrest...

Seemed like two exciting games in the National League.
The teams which finished second and third are in the final.Seems right to me.

It'll be a shame to see one of them lose out on promotion as both clubs have big grounds and big fan bases, at lower league level. From Accrington's point of view both clubs will bring very good followings, providing they're doing well at the time. If I could chose one of the two I'd like to see Notts County back as they were, up till relegation the oldest Football League club. I wonder if they do get promoted back to the Football League will they still be the League's oldest club, or did that title go when they lost their League status? 🤔

On about Nottingham Forest, what became of that keeper of theirs who wore a baseball cap and always got the home fans shouting and cheering? I think he was still at Forest at the start of the season. 🤔

They regain the title. The 1862 date being the fundamental issue although headed notepaper used in the 1880s gave 1860 as the year of foundation.

So they become the oldest club in the Football League again, but not now the club who've been in the League the longest? 🤔 Providing they make it back of course.

I'm going to answer my own question. I had a bit of a 'duh' moment when asking it. No, not now and never was as 10 others have been in the Football League/Premiership longer than Notts County and had been in as long obviously, up till County's relegation a few years ago. I hope that explains it to myself!!

The twelve founder members of the Football League are Accrington  , Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Notts County, Preston North End, Stoke (as they were known at the time), West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Stoke were formed in 1863 so could claim the oldest continuous. There are recent claims that Crystal Palace were formed in 1861 so copies of that 1860 dated Notts notepaper may be become important in the matter.
