They haven’t lost the plot, they’re a commercial business trying to make a profit in a very difficult, crowded market.

The whole Retro styling thing from 25 years ago is over, buyers now want a cutting edge, contemporary product, not something that tries to look 50 years old.

They have, nobody interested in Land Rovers wanted the new Defender, but something that was more like the Ineos Grenadier, that’s what was being dreamed up by the L-R magazines at the time, not many farmers are buying them, they won’t be Defending anything, they’re just for dropping Jeremy and Jemima off as close to the school gates as possible

I don’t think LR are that bothered if the Classic faithful and farmers buy something else.

Does the same apply to ‘fast FIATs’ (Ferrari) & Porches?
They certainly seem to remember/use their heritage

It would seem Fezza and Porker buyers do show an interest.

For the most part LR buyers don't any more.

Then problem here is that the folk really into the heritage, off roading them, restoring them, all that sort of stuff, are not the ones buying new Landies, and for the most part never were.

For the most part these were the folk with the loudest opinions about the new Defender with an often voiced "it's horrible, I won't be buying one" opinion being very commonly aired around the pubs they frequent. However, most of that lot had never bought a new one before then anyway so LR, probably quite rightly, never gave a sheet what they thought.

I too wouldn’t have any of the present…er…’range’
Visually alone, they do nothing for me

The last RR I would have/want is the L322 (‘series 3’, 2001 - 2012)
I’ve had a go in a TDV8 (but the 3.6, not the later 4.4)

This shape, & certainly not the ‘Sport’
(a friend has a Sport, she loves it)

Them original Sport was a Discovery made more expensive and less capable for no real purpose.
It was indeed a D3 under the skin

Stubborn git
I put my Vrs up for sale last night and the best offer which had to be rejected was a swap for a 2.7 TDV6 disco.

Probably worth more than mine but I'm not sure I'd be able to do anything with it.

The first sport really aged imho. Much more than the L322.

Where as the later sport still looks fresh imho.
