The article is crap. If its made in 1985 it isn't a Defender at all. It's merely a 'Ninety'.

It's like when the original Defender was killed off the media prattle on about it being in production for 70 years, which is arrant nonsense. When the general architecture was broadly similar the Defender is a very different vehicle to the series models.

But that's the evolution of a brand, they are still the same basic vehicle? Like saying a split screen moggie and a 1972 moggie aren't the same. They are but the design was much improved over 50yrs.

But most non car nerds just know it as a Defender

Or is it just the general public who do that?
Surely the earlier vehicles are known as the 'Series' models??
Although, I'll 'hold my hand up here', when mentioning Range Rovers to people (or on social media), I'll refer to them as (as I'll call them) 'Series ...' (barring the original 70-95 shape, to me that's 'the real Range Rover')

I'd forgotten about IBEX for a while, till I saw one a few days ago
Hmm.... a 6x6, on portal=axles
Not quite a UniMog, but built in Yorkshire

Regular/preventative maintenance, for a start, I guess?

Definitely, but it's still a massive effort to keep it going to nearly a million miles.

The cranks are not usually known for their longevity so i'd be surprised if it's on it's first engine but you never know.

JLR should give him a new car when he makes a million and keep that one for marketing.

I bet he would refuse. JRL aren't usually very good vehicles, and this one looks to be 'special'.

JLR (aka 'House Of Brands') don't seem to be interested in their history nowadays
Unless it's making money for them, like 'The Works'

As much as I'm not a fan of their products, I can't see Porsche, or Ferrari, turning their backs on marque history/pedigree?
