Do you suffer with slipping tuning or break a lot of strings

On a couple of the guitars I need retuning after half an hour or so - at least that's when I notice it has changed

I'm still teaching my son Enter Sandman. We've only got the chorus to go. It's made me want to pick up the guitar more aswell, so I've just ordered a Behringer compression pedal and an ultra metal pedal of the same brand. At £22 a pop, thought I'd give them a try for a more Metallica ish sound. My Marshall Amp has a good bunch of effects but of course you can't change them while playing

You might find a graphic equaliser useful to "fine tune" the sound and add a bit of boost to the top end. You can obviously get some really expensive rack type stuff but I've got cheap and cheerful pedal which works fine for me. I got mine from this seller - the model isn't quite the same but looks pretty similar.

Thanks, I don't have much room yet so will just keep to what I've got. I just needed a pedal to switch between clean and OD for the moment, so thought I might as well try a metal inspired pedal rather than just a Marshall footswitch for my amp. I'm hoping that 28 years after my first distortion pedal even the cheaper brands will be ok. I will update once I've had chance to try it

Don't do it!
I knew it was a mistake buying 'a' pedal. That wasn't even two months ago and since then I've bought a further four and i know there's others i'll convince myself i need. I'm trying to buy the budget pedals but it's already north of £200

I know what you mean. I think I got that out of my system 20 years ago when I had a Digitech Whammy, and an expression factory. Now I just want a good tone. I might end up trying the noise gate as well, but we'll see. My dream is to get our cinema room back (currently held hostage by a 17 yo with a dungeons and dragons obsession), get a marshall head and 4x12, and then some sort of drum machine that I can plug into the surround sound for backing

I’ve got a Behringer Compressor pedal, it’s pretty damn good considering the modest price, it really helps with sustain

A friend made this guitar. It's very nice indeed. If I didn't already have too many guitars - including a D-hole- then I'd have bought it. But if anyone's interested in a pretty cheap gypsy jazzer get in touch with Francis (details are in the video description). A couple of choruses if Django's Minor Swing:

Ah, le grand bouche!

Gretsch G6120 please!
(or a Gibson E335 ‘dot’, as played by Dave Edmunds)
