bought myself a loop pedal last week which i think has sent me down the pedal rabbit hole... felt i needed i a delay pedal and a reverb pedal as well so bought those too. Where will it end?
I'm still getting my head around this old box, hit and hope really as never have the patience to learn how to use it properly. £20 mind you.

I am considering a looper but I'm tight as a gnat's chuff. Already have a device that will do 90 second loops but fancy something more unrestricted
Do you have a user manual??
Just in case - https://www.manualslib.com/manual/380802/Digitech-Rp-7-Valve.html#product-RP-7 VALVE
same here. I got a 2nd hand one of ebay for £60 (a new one was £100-120ish)... but since i was using the delay and reverb on my amp, I then need separate pedals to go in front of the looper rather than after it, so that was another £50, plus a few patch cables (£8) and a daisy chain (£6)... it's all starting to mount up.
Can you overdub on your device? I can't imagine ever needing more than 90 seconds. I can't imagine looping more than 12 bars.
Anyone happen to know what pedals Steve Hillage used on Fish Rising and the Gong teapot trilogy?
I particular I'm trying to figure out if it's delay or echo or some combo of various pedals.
I have a good wah, and reasonable budget flanger and phaser.
I'm trying the exact same thing! Love a bit of Hillfish... it's definitely delay behind this sort of sound:
As an aside, Howlett's bass playing is second to none. Can't get enough of him.
