I think we need to put an end to this saga once and for all.
Whorty has admitted to his heinous crime and we have heard all the evidence from the prosecution who obviously wants his blood but I do agree that justice is needed.

We need to administer the appropriate punishment and he needs to appear before the COURT OF TEAM CYCLECH-AT.

I've been thinking about the punishment that the court of Team Cyclechat could issue and these are my suggestions.

1: Hung drawn and quartered, may be a tad too severe and we need all the members we can get.
2: Deportation, maybe to Denmark but I fear the alcohol prices are too expensive and he would never survive.
3: A ban, just like Sharapova but I'm sure Zwift would welcome him to ride over to the dark side and we could loose him forever.
4: A big fine, I fear that if the fine is too big his newts would become homeless and besides he could never pay enough to fill theTeam Cyclechat alcohol fund.

No there is only one punishment that fits this crime and it's ......................
4: DEMOTION BACK TO TEAM BEIGE, having to ride with the likes of Jim, Wolfie, and myself would be just punishment enough and this would make him realise it's O.K to lose without cheating as we do it all the time.

Excuse my ignorance but having started to read the last few pages of this thread......

What exactly is the situation with this cheat?
Which Bkool trainer? - Pro, Classic
Just using Bkool/Bsim?
What are people doing - turning the power on/off to the trainer during the ride?
How does that work then? If no data transmission from trainer to the application how is any speed activated?

Btw, I certainly don't want to use it myself and I don't use Bkool/Bsim anymore myself but i can't help but be fascinated.

To be honest the ghost thing was kind of irritating for me. And no, it's not because I couldn't set them up properly:rolleyes:. I always thought if you couldn't make the race and you had to do it alone then the only option should be to rerun the race just with the original participants ghosts to best experience the original race conditions. Almost the same as taking part.

Yes race craft is the term!

To be honest with drafting ghosts it's obviously not cheating. It just doesn't feel as good as beating someone in a live race as you know in your heart it's not the same thing.

Drafting a ghost and having a guy taking the lead for you is two different things. A ghost wouldn't wait for you, if you start to struggle, a real rider might, if he thinks he could gain from it, or just being a nice non competitive guy/teammate. AAAC has sometimes given me a tow for some part of a race, and I've done the same for Jim (I think it was) to help him set a better time, so I'm guilty as well.^_^

However, if you program a race using a number of special timed ghosts (think ghosts with 10 secs interval in finish time) so that you can draft your way trough the race, I would consider that cheating.

If the power is cut to the trainer during a ride (whether by accident or design) the speed and power remain exactly constant at that point for several seconds (I think 20-30 seconds when I tried it but I can't remember exactly). After this it starts to drop to zero. Therefore, if you use a power socket adaptor which can switch the power at the plug on and off by remote control, you could cut the power when the speed is high or when you're about to hit an incline and sit back and enjoy cruising along at artificially high speed for a bit - then you just switch the power back on and carry on riding before (or just as) the speed starts dropping.

Works with the Pro, don't know about any other trainers. Also, don't know if similar works in other software like Zwift.

It beats me why anyone would actually want to win races or improve their time by doing things like this on Bkool, but it takes all sorts I suppose!

Actually, just thinking about that - the graphs on ride summaries that Bkool provide allows us to spot these things (to some extent) - I'm not sure you get ride data like that on Zwift for example do you? So if it was possible on Zwift it could be even more hidden? At least Zwift do actively try to filter out dodgy results from leagues though, and allow them to be flagged etc.

It's just a shame Bkool themselves don't use their own data to reject dodgy rides from leagues and improve their software!

Paul,
Zwift dont do it. A 3rd party site, zwift power, collate all the race data so people can see it. I don't know if this link works :

https://www.zwiftpower.com/race.php?id=9896

If it works you can see i was told to upgrade category due to w/k. You can also follow the link to strava for each rider and compare with their irl rides to see if they cheat on Zwift.

I have just received the stats for my ftp yesterday and HR says it all:

your peak 5 second heart rate was 193 BPM

- your peak 10 second heart rate was 180 BPM

- your peak 1 minute heart rate was 179 BPM

- your peak 5 minute heart rate was 177 BPM

- your peak 10 minute heart rate was 176 BPM

- your peak 20 minute heart rate was 174 BPM

PREVIOUS PEAK WAS 184!

Thanks Bob - yes I'm familiar with that site from the couple of Zwift races I did. Still not quite the data in graph form that you get from Bkool - although the requirement to link to Strava does give you some similar data there to look at I suppose.

As for watt/kg this power cheat we're talking about doesn't really result in a wildly unusual watt/kg - Whorty's was 3.33 on that recent experimental ride, and Pep's 4.77 - whilst mine was 4.6 and Daddy pig's 3.7 so not that different (I'm sad to say if you look at Pep's ride data on Bkool for the same stage 5 there's the same flat speed/power sections showing up :headshake:).

Hurts me just thinking about that!

Thanks bridgy... what will they think of next. All a bit sad really.

I'll have you know that I have only ever sat in on two wheels on Bkool and they are Mr @AAAC 76C and @McCheatingWhortface - I'm very fussy that way.

Special timed ghosts at intervals... I like that.. thank you.

It was Bert1971...

Haven't tried the timed ghosts, but read on some Danish forum, back before the NC, that the Cyclechat guys were using lots of ghosts to achieve something along the lines of that...

Yep - do it all the time. But what would you expect from me

I don't draft them though, I use them as targets and pacers. Very hard to draft any ghost unless using the velodrome. This functionality is available to everyone equally so not a cheat. Use it or not is a personal choice
