Bingly bong email of shame came my way :notworthy::notworthy: Great time, and definitely the kind of lead I'd expect you tp have over me (at least :laugh: ) :okay:

Never get those e-mails, so it must be something you can turn off somewhere. :becool:

Yes I'm pretty content with the performance myself, regardless of why it was so much better. :smile:

Great day overall: 3 goals (of the teams 5 total) by my son, beating your time and Denmark beating Kazakhstan 3-1 (could have been 6-0, as we had 3 goals ruled offside, and the Kazak one probably should have been ruled offside too). :okay:

Sounds like the Kazak team have earned themselves a job in the mines!

I was playing around with ERG mode today to try and emulate what I have seen in other competitors stats in other leagues.
I did actually drop my chain and as Jacob appeared to be a minute or more up the road before I got going again I was just going to try and help BG but as I said earlier he was appeared to be working with my ghost from Thursday so I left him to it.
As for ERG mode I had some interesting journeys.
I still can't quite work out how it all seemed to work but it appeared that if I hit the button when I was on a power over swing going into a climb it fooled the machine into thinking that was the datum resistance it had to work around.
On occasions my cadence was low when it when into ERG and I ended up grinding a low cadence which, with my climbers physique, does not work.
I tried dropping a cog but the resistance seemed to work in a way that it locks onto cadence as well.
That aside, as a result of picking the right moment to go into ERG mode, I was able to slog out a reported average of 518 watts but still made no inroads on Jacob.
I did end up in a real slog in km 26 and 27, because I locked in at 620 watts and 90 rpm, which was blowing my legs so I just had to back of for a km before hitting the watts again.
Jacob actually eased of over the last km which is probably why I managed to claw back 15 seconds or so before the end.
All said and done using ERG mode is a good workout for practising constant effort, i.e. TT'ing as long as you don't engage it with your cadence too low.
But if you want to practice putting down power at low cadence e.g. climbing out of the saddle the it has it's uses the as well.
Competitively I did feel that it robbed you of speed in those climb transitions whilst BSim delays the onset of the climb resistance.
It also robs you of your micro rests on descents so in short other than crediting me with an totally non-credible 6.48 watts/kg and thus giving me an Elite 8 badge I don't think it is that useful using it to cheat your way in group races but it could perhaps work for lightweights on descents if they snap into ERG before cresting the ascent and diving down the other side.

AAAC, this is on the back of actually being able to sustain the cadence at said resistance. I haven't tried ERG in Bkool or Zwift in ages. Does Bkool drop out of ERG if you drift too far from target resistance(power)?

WHAT.A.STAGE!!!! GO FUGLSANG !!!! :bicycle::boxing::wahhey:

Ditto everyone else.

It was good to see Kennaugh and Swift do well yesterday and watch the GC race open up behind.
Today was the cream on the milk.
I was following it live on Cycling News whilst I was out and got back to watch the final climb.
If you didn't know the time difference you may have thought Porte was gaining on Fuglsang with his powerful looking out of saddle climbing yet the ex-mountain biker was using cadence well.
I would like to see the whole stage to see how it got to where it was as the text commentary on Cycling News doesn't give you too much feeling for the race.

Fuglsang has been up there for quite some time but seldom on the top step so it was good to see him do well in the GC.

Just finished stage 2.

Three times the damn bkool stand came off on one side of the back wheel. Cost me 2 stops plus one time I had to kick the thing just before it came off for real.

Anyway, this was my Olympics. I do not expect to ever put that many watts down again. I am completely empty. 318 W for 41 minutes. Next step is 329W which is impossible. Easier to shed some of the +100kg frame ;)

Note, the 30 seconds or so the mechanical issues took also gave me 30 seconds of leg rest. Hence, I do not think I could have gone any faster nomatter what.

3 seconds slower than you.

Hm ... in the summary of my ride it says
Low velocity (paused)
not_ok__v738c635.png
54.04 <= 20

Not sure what it means. It did not feel like I was a pausing ;)
