That Bilboa ride is nasty. Deadstops everywhere, a real PITA. I second i'm 2 mins up on riders, the next they're flying past me. Couldn't be bothered to do the last hill as I knew every would just fly up there and leave me for dead! Generally a good work out though, although I didn't see Jim after the start; don't know if he had problems??
Sorry for the dud steer on that. As the owner of a classic I don't get the dead stops. I don't recall this complaint when it was a CG ride.

If you spin up the flywheel by riding fast then get off the bike quickly, lift the tyre away from the roller does the noise vibration completely disappear?
Hard to tell - I did try that but it was inconclusive! I guess you're thinking it could be a tyre issue? I thought this too but I haven't changed tyres and I can't see or feel any problems with the tyre - still possible it's the cause I guess though

Can any of you more technically minded types help me? My Bkool pro has just started making odd noises - and sending a vibration back up through the bike. On top of that, it felt really hard work - like cycling through treacle.

I have taken the cover off to have a look inside but can't see anything obviously wrong and it seems to roll smoothly enough when pushed by hand. Anything I should be looking for????
Have you taken the wheel off recently? If so has it been sat back in the frame correctly? Also, try spinning a spare wheel to see if this mitigates the issue.

Try what theboxers said but I doubt if this would cause the treacle affect.
Make sure there are no obstructions in or around the roller.
With the covers removed drive your bike with your hand and see if you spot anything.
1. Flywheel not running true
2. Conductive ring debonding from flywheel
3. Magnets too close to flywheel
4. Are the magnets moving in and out as you speed up the pedal action.
5. Do the magnets motor out and back when you switch the turbo on
6. Inspect the plastic frame for cracks around the bearing keepers.

If the flywheel is not running true then try tightening the nut that holds it on.
If the magnets seem to run too close to the flywheel try tightening the small allen key that holds each one on.
If any of the others let me know

No probs. You only really notice how bad the dead stops are when you're riding with others that don't suffer them. At one point I was downhill at 70+kph with people 2 mins behind me, the next minute I am hitting a brick wall and dropping to 4kph and the same riders are a minute ahead of me. On the flats, downs, slight inclines I was losing these guys, but as soon as there is a big transition they were flying past me like I'm stationery. Hey ho though, still a good workout and the chest doesn't feel too bad tonight compared to how it has been so looks like I'm on the mend :okay:

Contrary to your Pro Dead Stops they are probably getting a power peak on transitions as well thus emphasising the difference even more.
I remember doing a Chaingang ride on my old hybrid classic body/early pro PCB turbo when the course was a circuit with a steep climb for a 1/4 of the loop and the rest was pretty much descent. The only effort I needed to do was to power into the climb and I literally left everyone else standing whilst not pedalling. That was when I knew it was time to get a new turbo and joint the majority.

I remember that Chaingang ride. Really weird to be overtaking people who should be destroying you.

Don't worry if you can't do the course to set a time, I can estimate you a Handicap.

Since you're fitness level active 8, if we do the Handicap Team Time Trial I could just put you in the Middle Team.

If we do an individual Handicap chase it's a bit harder, so your handicap may be a bit out to start with, I tend to err on the side of caution and try to avoid someone winning by miles, I'd rather be unfair to one person than to everyone else, if you see what I mean!

So far we are looking close to having enough for Teams, I have yes from

Can anyone else make it? It would be good to get >12 riders

Cheers,

I did the course in 41:30. Put a few ghosts in there, most of whom went away from me though two were close enough to give me a spur on. I will try to schedule to be on at 7pm. Can you provide instructions as to how I know when to start, presumably it's on a certain elapsed time.

I'd try putting a different bike on there. If it still does the same then you may have the start of a problem. I had one that went like that so I put in a call to BKool. They set up a diagnostic over the internet and decided it was duff. Sent a replacement within 3 days, excellent.
