I don't want to see the demise of Bkool because with competing platforms advances will come online faster.

There seems to be quite a few issues just at the moment at bkool.

Why should it need an admin to update the overall league positions though? The rides (usually) get added to the stage results automatically - why doesn't this just automatically update the overall results as well???? Frustrating.

Question for admins
Do you have to manually update the overall table?
Perhaps you have to export it to excel to do the complex math?

I might accept your point about Apple if I hadn't spent the morning trying to get my son's faulty iphone fixed and ultimately having to send it back under warranty after it stopped working for the third time in 3 weeks - each time giving me a MAJOR headache in getting all that Apple ID stuff back up and running :banghead:
Unfortunately Apple now see everyone as beta testers, just as Microsoft have done for many years.

My struggle with Xcode has resulted in me hiring a firm to do the work for me cutting way into my DD fund. I've been a DOS guy from the 80s and the Apple stuff is so different I could only get different error codes when getting the rejection from the App Store.
The tire bump problem at low speeds seems to change on mine with pressure. Anything over 120 psi and it is way worse on my 23 tire. I don't get it at all with a 25.

Edit: sorry for the software chat off subject but there seems to be lots of geeks in our group.

Nor me.
Perhaps now contact has been made with other bkoolers following the Nations Cup someone should organise a petition or something outlining issues and asking bkool to address. Then you could move onto feature requests. Hard to ignore a group the sise of the Danes and other bkoolers especially when they are so proactive in organising races.

Just a short answer, you could use the " Start a Conversation" feature if you need details.

Objective C is a really strange language. Have you considered an Cordova app (html5 + javascript). Has the benefit of using the same code for both iOS and Android and javascript is so much easier to deal with.

No you do not have to update the overall results. All you have to do is approve some rides where weight has changed or if the ride has been done more than once it will need approval. This puts the ride straight into the stage result and then after that it seems to take a day or so to make it into the overall results. So don't know what's going on with the WC results because the part that's not updating is the one that usually updates automatically. Maybe it's related to the WC group being so big??

The only reason I can think of for the overall results to update more slowly than the stage results is that they "poll" less often for the overall results to reduce overheads!

It may be that the stage results can be "pushed" but that the overall results must take into account all the stages, and also the people who have not finished a stage and the slowest time on that stage. Whenever someone finishes a stage, the software needs to check if it is the new slowest time, and then update anyone who hasn't finished that stage.

I would guess that they have not made this event driven, to avoid doing it every time a stage is finished, rather they poll for it, and do this only occasionally, therefore the delay in updating the overall. Having said that, you would think that once a day, perhaps overnight, would be a sensible minimum, the system can't be that busy in the early hours of the morning, although they do have to cater for multiple time zones.

I wonder if the system is busy, or there is maintenance overnight, if this update is missed?

Still, three weeks is just ridiculous, and would suggest that the update is perhaps failing regularly!

Objective-C is awful. Objective-C++ (yes, it really exists) is enough to make you vomit a bit when you think about it. Of course as a compiler optimizer junkie, I'd probably say something similar about all languages.

Out of any languages the best word I've come across is the Finish for cheers... pronounced as 'get-pissed'... that's a language I understand...
