On a different note, has anyone noticed any difference between using 23 and 25 mm width tyres on their trainer? I ask as I have just read it can be a roling difference of 10% and not in my favour!

I have used both. I think tge 25mm was better, but it was also a better tyre so I don't know what difference the width made. What did you read was meant to be better?

25mm was better, but all bar one trainer tyres are 23mm. There is a kinetic which is 25mm available through sigma sport and wondered if it was worth getting. Like @BILL S cycling feels like I'm on a mud track and not on a road!

I tried a 23, 25 and 28. The 28 suited me the best. It gave me the feeling of less rolling resistance.

Edit to add

All tyres were pumped to their max rated pressures 145 on the 23, 140 on the 25 and I run 135 on the 28 that rated at 130.

I am in the 120+kg club at the moment

On turbo's specifically?
The state of today's roads lends itself to a larger tyre with the associated lower pressure as they ride the imperfections better thus reducing the rolling resistance.

And don't worry @theboxers I used to be 120kg and with bkool have lost 25kg in a year! Having a break (says he munching toast and drinking beer...:mrpig:) and then another push to get into the 80's for the summer. Have to get it done as there will be another little piggy on the scene in july so won't have much time/won't be allowed to do many rides

You haven't been on my trainer.... bump bump bump dead stop....
Talking of dead stops I mentioned my velo dead stop to bkool on Foffbook/Facebook and they said they would look into it! Funny though, their post seemed to take credit for the Nations Cup rather than @JacobSkovsgaard who I remember organising the whole thing...
Edit. It mentioned lower contact area hence lower rolling resistance. Not sure I can work that out myself...

The video he put on facebook showed his HRM had slipped down due to the effort he was putting in - he even made a comment about it. The Danish guys didn't wear HRMs on purpose because of interference worries with them all in the same room.

Agreed -Pep's HR is amazingly low!

Had to read that twice for several reasons:
1. I thought you were saying Peps HR slipped down due to the effort he was putting in.
2. Once I got what you were saying I had to think does it miss measure if it slips or does it stop, I'll have to try.
3. Who was worried about the Danes interfering with each other, I expect the TV company might have been based on the time of day?
4. I did consider not wearing one to avoid others seeing how knackered you were.

And grinds
Edit. There is something not quite right about the riding experience. There is a very light bump bump of the trainer going around. I thought it was an untrue wheel but when I got a new one there was the same issue.
The grinding was the fan blades on the trainer next to the metal disc. A clip broke and it was clipping the round plastic cover.

That fan rub is quite common.
I had a one per wheel rev bump as well but it turned out to be the inner tube.
An out of true on the roller would give you roughly 43 bumps per wheel revolution unless it was a bearing problem.

Not sure you can get turbo tyres on that width but I'll have a look. I tend to damage normal tyres too much and don't get enough grip.
Sorry I misread your post. I was using/testing normal tyres. I also don't put out the power you do so that may be why mine work ok without getting destroyed.
