You wouldn't happen to have a government contract by any chance would you? ;) Looking to go private now perhaps?;)
Thankfully no, always been in private sector. The PS contractor sector is about to implode and all PS projects are in serious trouble. HMRC can't even get their IR35 tool out as it was built by contractors and they've jumped ship. Absolute shambles.Be interesting to see how it pans out over the next few months

If only! I was in too much pain to be daydreaming. I just wanted it to end! Also, for some reason I make much less power going uphill so am usually trying harder than it looks.
I've found that recently as well. It seems that around 4% to 6% are the worst, below or higher aren't a real issue on terms of watts.

I agree - and either I'm still suffering after Saturday's efforts (my legs have felt almost bruised since that cramp) or tonight's course is just a really tough one - the opposite of one of those bkool "gifts" we were talking about.

cheers whorty that was a tough 1 I had to dig deep my avg HR 180 I was thinking that u was going to catch me on the last hill but I remember u saying u got a dodgy chest so I took full advantage
I pushed a bit tonight but not too hard as wasn't sure how I'd fair. TBH, not bad on the ride, but I'm now hacking up all manner of green stuff xx( I had the odd big push to see how i faired, and was OK on the hills, but held back on the flatter sections to rest. Aimed for a sub 1 hour and just made it :heat: definitely a ride I'll be doing again when I feel better as I should be able to knock a minute or two off

Well done @rob01792 and @Jim Brown , couldn't keep up tonight at all. Thanks for the toe Jim, shame I couldn't help you as much as you helped me

It was good to ride with you Whorty.. the first climb when you caught me up I was struggling and I was very happy to sit in.. from then on I got stronger - once over the last climb with you I thought I'd reach out for @rob01792 but that last 10% jobby was just too tough..
I've just had a look at the last four stages of the WC and the next three all include Mont Whorty... perfect for you to get your lungs and legs back... I enjoyed that @Whorty - it was exactly the kind of run I wanted.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

My company has what it calls 'Engagement events' throughout the year, think of them as team building exercises, usually at monthly team meetings. They normally take the form of Quizzes or computer game competitions for example mario cart and such.

This month they want to do something for Red Nose Day. My normal reticent filter must have been left at home and I piped up 'what about an indoor bike trainer event'  . Thinking a few 4 lap velo races between the 16 or so in the team, I have access to 2 trainers.

I'm now being asked about what we can do from 8am til 5pm, :stop:. 9 hours .

So far I have thought about doing a long Velo session. It turns out that there is a limit, 400 laps/100km/62miles. That is achievable with the size of team we have. But 4 hours round the velodrome will be uninspiring.

We need something with a little pain :secret:

A London to Brighton session seemed appropriate

What do the residents think?

What would the plan be @theboxers - split the group into two relay teams and both start the same course at the same time and compete to see which team wins?

Could be quite good fun with mixed ability teams as the gap between the two teams goes up and down throughout the day as riders change

I could see the flatter sections coming up and figured if i helped you up the first hill you might repay that help later :okay: shame we couldn't latch on to Rob as we could have made a good team of 3, but i couldn't push hard enough to bridge the gap.
