Hi, I have another question for you guys if you're interested.
Got an email from Bkool to say someone had challenged one of my rides and beaten it. Fair enough, no big deal...until I realised he'd beaten my time by 10 mins and 30 secs...on a 4.2 mile course which I did in 11 mins or so. On closer inspection, according to the figures, he completed the ride in 1 min and 2 secs. I've noticed that a lot of the claimed records for various courses have ridiculous record times, is this a glitch in the software? Or are there other reasons?
Cheers,
Bri

I've noticed this on some of the rides I've done. Pure ridiculous times which are obviously impossible but for some reason bkool allows them to stand.

Don't know how someone could cheat it so it must be software glitches somehow.

I imagine bkool doesn't have the time to go through all the rides checking times, the actual record for the ride I quoted is 22 seconds, lol. Also the guy who did the ride in 1 min 2 secs, has another one of 25 miles that he did in 5 mins or so. I don't think anyone would dream of cheating so obviously, but I personally would remove them from my list as they wouldn't help to show if I was improving or not.
If it is a glitch, which is most likely, as you say, bkool should be trying to sort it out.

The external leaderboard/challenge thing i think is worth ignoring from my short time on Bkool, the real value is in the closed leagues where you can interact.

Absolutely.
They just need a bit of code in to block impossible times surely? I'm sure that can't be that hard when someone's average speed is 143 mph.

When does the next goats stage kick in? The Mrs is out saturday night...

PS only a cylist would think about turbo training when the mrs was out..

HaHa good point.

I think it kicks in about Friday sometime although Bkool dates aren't always the same as everyone elses.

Well the leagues where the real fun is that's for sure. However the external leaderboard is good for piling on the miles, both vertical and horizontal without always feeling like you're in a race or need to be over exerting yourself. Back in the days before the leagues and before I knew anyone on bkool and cyclechat I'd be heading up Col de la Madeleine at 230 watts just happy to be getting the fitness and calories burned. Actually I think its best to do both if possible and I'll probably try to go back to doing some long uphill slogs as well as enjoying the leagues and group rides/races.

I just ordered a Wahoo KICKR, should arrive tomorrow! I hope it lives up to it's promises, as it's quite an investment ...

A friend was asking me which trainer to buy to use bkool, and I said either the Pro or the KICKR, and that I sometimes wished I'd bought the KICKR. He then immediately offered to buy my Pro off me, leaving me to explain to the missus why an even more expensive bit of kit was on it's way. To her credit, she took it well! I think she likes her new fit('ish), sporty hubby! ^_^

Interestingly, Bkool look to have put up the price of the trainers, probably because of the Euro's falls. Now showing at £469 on their web shop (or £480 in instalments). Doesn't seem to have filtered through to the UK online sites yet.

I'm a little concerned that the resistance may prove to be harder on some of the steep gradients, in which case I'll be getting familiar with the back of the pack!

We may find out tomorrow evening?
