Andy, I don't give a hoot what mode he was in.
In my book anyone pushing over 6 W/kg for 45 minutes is going to be in hard work mode and unless your in your seventies that who normally require an HR greater than 142, or am I just a bit synical or perhaps a tad jealous.
To be honest employing ERG mode in a league ride should be banned. We all complain enough about the lack of VR and ERG mode is not VR.

On box, off box.
I tend to agree with you about using ERG mode in league races - doesn't seem right to me. We should probably raise this with Jacob and ask if there will be any specific ruling on this for the Nations Cup races

That's interesting. I didn't think a fan would make that much difference apart from the amount I sweat. How noticeable do you think the reduction in hr would be? And will this mean that I can go faster for longer? :hyper:

It looks like more than 10bpm. I was doing an easy ride but it was noticeable.

You get these little pop up messages all through the rides, so constant reminders about shoulders, elbows, jaw tension. I'd never noticed it before but it's bang on, and now recognise it in real life rides as well. I did 67 miles yesterday cadence was up to 87 average, previous rides about 83, plus no neck pain at all where I would normally get a little bit about 2 hours in.

Sweetspot low volume 1 is 3 hours and 30 minutes a week, two 1 hour rides and one 90 minute.

The plan is mainly pedaling technique, one legged drills, climbing cadence drills, sprint drills, all concerned with technique and cadence.

Kipster,/Tommy. I am just a couple of weeks into power building at the moment. My experience is a mirror of Kipster's. Cadence has improved, learning to be a little more relaxed on the bike(this is what made me notice my Boardman was just a little too big). I would say my power hasn't increased, but I can sustain it a little longer with a higher cadence, so less fatigued I should of done more base work, but hey. I have been edging up my ftp figure when a ride has felt slightly easier. It suggests altering your ftp up or down 2% depending on how the ride went. I have kept the workout volume on low level for both Base and Power. The higher levels are the same with recovery rides added in.

Thanks Randy, that really is a big difference. I look forward to experiencing myselfand doing a rerun of the wc events to check. The 4 laps of the rio triathlon could be a good test as I was at my limits with my hr banging a hole in my chest!

Be sure to write your will and leave a stretcher next to your bike.
Oh, and put 999 on a speed dial on your phone and leave your GPS on so they can find you.

I'll dive into the attic tomorrow and try and locate one although that could be a 2 hour mission itself. That may explain why my times fall away on the longer rides and I feel rather light headed afterwards.
Mission failure...
The amount of cr4p in our loft is unbelievable, so much so that there is no room to even get into the loft itself. All these boxed/bagged babies/toddler clothes/toys etc are taking up 2/3rds the room. HID has a lot to answer for...
However.... I managed to get a fan heater which can also just blow air so I will try that.
....moan over...

DP get a proper fan rather than a heater with a fan in it. You'll notice the difference bud.

Thanks DP - I felt good today and unlike the last few rides I've done the legs weren't aching at all which was very welcome! Seems like taking the last 3 days off from any cycling at all has done me good! Having said that. I think it was also one of those rides where bkool was being a bit kind to me as well!

AAAC - yes this was still on my "sticky" tyres as I haven't had time to change them yet. But after that ride I think I may have been blaming them unfairly!
:notworthy:
That is awesome climbing.

Can you stand up using your sticky tires (what kind of tire is it?) on the steep sections?
I have a real problem with those +9% because my thin legs needs a high cadence. In the real world I stand up during sections like that (e.g. I stand up from the bottom to hairpin 4 on Alpe d'Huez), but that is not possible in Bkool.

Just did stage 5 WC and had my little fan heater blowing cold air. It worked pretty well and I reckon I could notice the difference especially towards the end of the stage keeping bridgy at bay on that nasty final climb.

I can stand up but do still get some slippage on the steeper bits. I only tend to stand to power up a short, steep section to save changing to the small front ring - longer climbs I stay seated. I have to try and keep my weight as far back as possible to keep the weight on the rear roller which is a bit unnatural!

It's a Continental Grand Prix 4000S which I'm currently using - it's always had a slightly sticky feel, but I think more so recently.
