I'm gong to have a go at traineroad since Andy kindly gave me the free month tester but I'm not sure what that will mean regarding the rest of the leagues.
I'm dropping out of the winter league for sure. I'm tired pretty much all the time with intense work at the moment and trying to compete in a league I'm already 4 stages behind in and struggling is a bit depressing to be honest.
I'm going to try and make the handicap races when I can. Hopefully come the end of the month my legs feel less lead like than they do now!
Are you going to do a plan on TR? I'm currently on Sweetspot 1 low volume and it's improved my riding already (i will complete week three tomorrow). Cadence has improved and I'm holding less tension in the shoulders.

I've published February's Handicap league, please let me know who can make this Tuesday's 7pm Team Time Trial, and I'll try and get the teams together.

Since a number of people were struggling to make the start last week, I could aim to start warm-up at 7pm and first team starts at 7:10 (as for CG)?

Geoff
50/50 at the moment Geoff, I wont know untill Tuesday afternoon.

That's interesting kipster, I'm definitely open to advice. So far I've registered but not done a ftp test or looked at specific plans.

How has it improved the tension in your shoulders? What does the plan entail? And roughly how much time a week do you commit to it? Sorry lots of questions...

You get these little pop up messages all through the rides, so constant reminders about shoulders, elbows, jaw tension. I'd never noticed it before but it's bang on, and now recognise it in real life rides as well. I did 67 miles yesterday cadence was up to 87 average, previous rides about 83, plus no neck pain at all where I would normally get a little bit about 2 hours in.

Sweetspot low volume 1 is 3 hours and 30 minutes a week, two 1 hour rides and one 90 minute.

The plan is mainly pedaling technique, one legged drills, climbing cadence drills, sprint drills, all concerned with technique and cadence.

Geoff, I am not sure I am much use to any team with the NEO. Unless you want to choose a significant climb or a flat followed by such a climb. 8% and above would be spot on ;):tongue:
That does not sound fun as a team time trial as I'd have aaac trying to 'encourage' me to go faster uphill by staying just out of his slipstream.

I just noticed @bridgy 's stage 6 wc this evening. Phenomenal effort that's going to worry those Danes for sure. Massive w/kg simply superb...

I'm worried as well.
Is that with a sticky tyre as well.

I've ordered some new wheels as my rear bearing races are pitted on my Shimano Tiagra quality hub, WH R 500 I think.
I wanted to lash out on a carbon 3 spoke off of eBay but have gone for some simple Prolites after reading good reviews regarding VFM and durability.
Might go for a new tyre and 'closer cassette' ready for the 'big race'.

Depends what you want them for really. There is little impact on a turbo so any lightweight wheels will do. I had to go for mavic as they could cope with 120kg weights although I am significantly lighter now ^_^.

Do you reckon a fan may help as I don't use one? Will it help improve the longer rides by having a cooling effect? I seem to drink like a fish and quite often have 4 pint glasses lined up...

Full of what?
A fan is a must, couldn't imagine myself surviving without one.

The idea of the carbon 3 spoke was not weight rather to try and reduce 'in the wheel' aero drag from the spokes all be it a disc would do that best but I couldn't find one at the right price.
We do slot of time at 50 kph plus in the flatter races so less drag in the wheel might be a good marginal gain.

Or you could encapsulate the rear of the bike including the wheel in an airtight structure, whilst using the vacuum cleaner to reduce the air pressure inside. That will reduce drag...^_^

Edit. You could also use helium in the tyres to reduce weight...

I think that the one Andy started with too, and sounds like a good place to start. 3 and a half hours seems doable for me I think.

I did a long ride with a guy who had a 15 minute alarm on his garmin to remind him to stretch out a bit so I joined in the routine. Like you say it makes a massive difference after a few hours.

Thanks whorty, for the Bingly bong of shame. 5 minutes+!!?

DP I can't imagine riding without a fan. It drops your heart rate by a noticeable amount.
