I did the mountain goat ride stage 2 (Mt Ventoux) tonight, also not shown up yet on my history page.
It's not looking good for us.
Some workout though. Its the highest virtual ride I've done.

My ride showing up now Bill, so yours may turn up shortly
I was able to review and accept your ride in the league a bit earlier tonight so at least they got that problem solved. Your ride shouldn't have needed the review the way the stages were set up though.

I've got the pro version as well and I'd be interested to know how it works! If you choose to believe it I'm averaging in the 130rpm over 30 odd miles. Sure that can't be right! Would love to know what's more important power or cadence. I'm a lowly amateur 10 and can't generate much more than 160 watts yet I seem to beat more powerful riders probably due to spinning the pedals faster, just don't get it?!
As per Geoff and Kipsters replies. My own 2 pence worth for you: I also was running at 130 rpm when I first used my new pro last month, with low power numbers ( 220W for 20 mins on FTP test). I did the firmware update and it seemed to sort everything out ( now have cadence range of 80-100, and 299W for 20 mins FTP test). Hopefully bkool will make the firmware available again soon, apparently they've pulled it at mom.

One thing to note, it seems bkool chucks out higher power numbers than 'proper' power meters, check out the last 3-5 pages of posts, look for Geoff's comments on this- I'm hazarding a guess that it is also true for me and many others.

Separately, I found my cadence dropped stupidly low on the long climb (puerto mijares) of last week, often being stuck at 37 or 43 or some such, for quite a while- Anyone else get that? I should have been nearer 70-80 range on that i would guess.

Thanks Geoff  I'll see about a catch up tonight of some sort, might even try a Velodrome session as I've not done one before (though everybody here seems to hate them judging by the comments!).

Cheers,
Simon
I quite like them Simon, round and round and round :becool:
Me too! Also, it suits my 'bulky' frame better  It will be interesting to see the drafting effect at 40 odd kph tomorrow, see if it's realistic!

I get that it maybe needs to be checked or reviewed for the league table sometimes. But it should show up directly on my history page regardless in my opinion. I didn't notice any issues during the ride, hr, speed, and all the rest seemed normal. It uploaded and saved with no issues according to the software.
It'l show up I guess?

It has registered somewhere in the depths of the BKool servers apparently according to this screenshot, there is still hope for us Bill!

I think the plan tonight is for me to start a 20 minute velodrome session at 7:00 pm, giving you 10 minutes to find it in the live tab and warm up.

Hopefully it will then be how many laps you do in 20 minutes, and we will all finish, although last time I tried that it changed to a number of laps and we finished at different times, so if it goes on past 20 minutes and you want to do the Salcombe Hill group climb you may be better to quit at that point. The velodrome won't show in the league results anyway, it's only for "fun"!

Once we have finished the Velodrome session I will start the league run for Salcombe Hill (so around 7:30 pm) and you have 10 minutes to find it on the live tab, join and recover from the velodrome, then all hell breaks loose for around 6 minutes or so (4 minutes for Bill).

Not sure you get much benefit from drafting at 4 mph but every watt helps...

Bill, don't look back, seeing us lot with faces contorted in agony chasing after you may put you off your stroke ..:heat::sweat:xx(:cursing::cry:

Hopefully, see you all there. It will be interesting to see how many people we can get in the velodrome, and how many interlopers sneak in.

As before, the password doesn't seem to work, but just in case it is cyclechat

Yes, it should show on your activity regardless of any league classification issues. Until it shows on your activity I don't think you'll see it anywhere else.

I think Bkool had some problems yesterday, as I got a load of emails about comments on my wall that were for messages posted the day before, as though they were just catching up.

I hope you guys are right but I'm not convinced. The main thing was to get the training of course and even bkool can't take that away, but if this turned out to be a constant problem I think my motivation would take quite a hit.

I got that as well on the climbs, but I got a new cadence thingy for Christmas and all is now good.

Interesting power calculator here http://www.gribble.org/cycling/power_v_speed.html

Shows graphically how climbing is all about power/weight, and on the flat it's all about power/aero drag.
We are told this all the time, but I think it is helpful to see it so clearly in the graphs.

Using default weight for rider & bike (75kg + 8kg), frontal area and Drag coefficient, but ignoring drivetrain loss (which is only around 3% and you can do little about it)...

on a 10% gradient at around typical 6 mph, power to overcome gravity (weight) is 94% at default settings (drag and rolling resistance only add up to 6%)
Cut your weight by 10% and at the same power you would speed up to 6.58 mph, saving almost 10% on the time of the climb.

on a 0% gradient at around typical 20 mph power to overcome (aero) drag is 80% and rolling resistance 20% at default settings (weight is 0%)

On steep downhills (-10%) it is also very interesting, as gravity (weight) provides so much more power than pedalling can, and as aero robs most of it, you are much better tucking in than pedalling ...

Freewheeling at 44 mph on -10% Gravity provides around 1,600 watts, balanced by drag and a little rolling resistance.

Cut the frontal area 20% and you freewheel faster until drag balances gravity again, to over 49 mph

upload_2015-1-8_11-23-9.png

That's the equivalent to 424W of pedalling for free...

I will try and make the ride tonight and bring up the rear. Of course, mine will be a slow time, not because I have no fitness but because I will need to keep stopping to pick up any valuables and bottles you have dropped on the way. Poor performance excuse number 237.

Well done everyone on Salcombe, I thought I'd just beat by best time by a second, but not it came in at 5 minutes dead again, surprised I had that in my legs after the velodrome
