Mine will have to be 2016. My wife is signed up for the Cotswold Iron Man next summer, and the gruelling training schedule is so time consuming, it would be logistically impossible for us both to train simultaneously for it. Unless we were to put our children into care..... or kennels..... but she won't go for either of those.
So I am happy to support her effort this year, and swap roles the year after. I will do half a dozen or so Tri's this year probably, which are, obviously a lot less demanding. And the BKool will become my new best friend, whilst my wife is out crunching hard, cold miles, I will park next to the fridge, swing the TV out, and pedal, maniacally away, chasing your on screen ghost Bill, until I can catch you!
You got a fit missis as well Adam eh, well I hope she does well on her Ironman (woman), do you ever dump the kids with grand parents and train together or are your paces to far apart?

I just found this video interval ride if anyone is interested in getting their VO2 max up -> Casa de Campo
I suppose you can make it as hard as you want, but it saves manually programing an interval session anyway, i've saved it to my favorites. Its 8 repeats up a crit like circuit with a kind of 2 level climb followed by a flat (recovery) section.

We are completely different racing breeds, my wife and I! She can, and does run, swim and cycle forever, but at a very steady pace. I on the other hand, cycle and run like an idiot, for a set time, then die! Swimming on the other hand, I can do pretty much forever, at a pace that is fairly fast, but I have freakishly long limbs, much like Gollum, which makes this possible.

So no we don't train together, mainly because of the children (in her mind) and mainly because I find her pace quite laborious (in my mind). Mary, my wife, has run quite a few marathons, I have yet to steel myself for one! So Ironman will be my first probably, unless I get a London place next year. I apply every year, and cheer and get mildly inebriated every time I receive my rejection letter. But I have always maintained that the London marathon is one I would really like to do. And I would train hard for it.

Ah I thought as much, if your that good on the bike I should think your other disiplines are the same, I used to run sometimes with my missis as "recovery runs" but even they were hard to do at her pace.
I always wanted to Triathlon but a fused big toe stops that, and the fact I cant swim fast for sh*t, I may have to try a Duathlon at some time but maybe go to one to see how the transitions work etc etc.
Well kudos to anyone mad enough to do an Ironman.

I normally come in about 25% of the way down the finish times in Tri, but my cycling will have improved dramatically since getting the turbo, so hoping to make the top 10% this year. Cycling was always my weakest discipline. My Tri runs are normally 6:45 - 7 minute miling, which is ok, but would like to get closer to 6 minute miling tbh. But then that is only for about 10k. Any further than that and my pace suffers.

Well 25% is really good bud and like you say keep doing these hills and such like on Bkool can only improve you. I definitely know its harder on the turbo because I rode one of my courses on the turbo and had to use the small ring quite a bit which I never do on the road.
Going from 6:45 - 7:00 milling to 6 is a lot more miles in the legs to reach it, oh and suffering on intervals xx(

Yes, it is, and I do very little running. I have done a 5k in 19 minutes flat, so I have it in my legs, but just can't sustain it.

Well, if the after effects of this Tawny Port aren't too severe tomorrow morning, I'm going to have a crack at the Rebels run. Tempted to try now, but I know that would end in tears.... and lots of mopping!

The bkool pro was delivered late yesterday so set it up this morning to make sure it all works. Did a short climb ride of 9km ish, god I have lost loads of fitness not having a turbo for the past 6 or 7 weeks. I used to get about 240w, this ride was down to 190w ish, The in built cadence is rubbish. The gradient transitions much better on the pro than the classic.

I have been riding at weekends, but not as much as I would like. Much work needed. I'll join the Thursday night rides, but first dibs of being the back marker, please!!!

Showed my Bkool to a cycle mate last night and he was well impressed, he says he's going to get one!

Hopefully, one more for the Thursday night rides!

I'm hoping to do the Rebel league one this evening, I've had three days off as my legs were bloody sore after last Thursday night!

I was hoping to do the Rebel Run today too, but my head is pounding! Had our Running Club Xmas dinner last night, and it is conceivable, that I may have over indulged

Bugger! Near killed myself on the Bkool yesterday and my first email of the day was this happy message:

You have been challenged and beaten
Jose Matius beat you in 'col du telegraphe' and spent 6.09 less than you.

Not sure I can let him off with this:angry:
