The plan for next week is currently a velodrome session next Thursday.

Each lap is 0.155 miles, so 80 laps is 12.4 miles. On a flat circuit with lots of drafting that could take less than 30 minutes.

The maximum 100 laps could take less than 40 minutes. If you don't manage all the laps you won't get a time.

How about we set a time limit, rather than a number of laps.

One advantage of that is that we will all start and finish at the same time, so it's the most laps done in the time that counts. If you get there late, or quit early, you should still register a number of laps.

If we did it this way, any suggestions as to how long a time limit?

Geoff
30 minutes of going round and round would probably do me! Especially if it was balls out the whole time!

I wasn't paying too much attention to that Geoff, but up hill is my thing at the moment. I get my ass handed to me on the flatter courses.

However, last month I did most vertical miles in the world in all classes. That wasn't my aim though. I was just training for my 24 hour mtb race in January. To keep the training going I really need to do an Alpe d'Huez or equivalent every day.

Must be making you super fit though Bill? Going to end up with quads like Chris Hoy! I can't get anywhere near your average power on those rides......yet!

And 24 hour mtb event?!? That must be insanely difficult! I am gearing up for an Iron Man event, but even that pales into mediocrity compared to that!

I think it's made me quite fit but don't seem to be progressing fitness wise at the moment. My legs have become weirdly solid and hard but I'll find out soon enough if its done any good. What the Bkool's done for me since I bought it in October is to let me do the 80 miles up steep hills instead of the usual 80 miles on he flat I was doing. Also I think it's more fun, at least for the moment.

"yet!". I like that. You will soon enough I'm sure.

It's pretty mental and incredibly draining but I'm sure an Iron Man event is no less so. Triathlons too. and you have to be good at more than just one thing. Which just makes it all the harder. When is your Iron Man?

Mine will have to be 2016. My wife is signed up for the Cotswold Iron Man next summer, and the gruelling training schedule is so time consuming, it would be logistically impossible for us both to train simultaneously for it. Unless we were to put our children into care..... or kennels..... but she won't go for either of those.
So I am happy to support her effort this year, and swap roles the year after. I will do half a dozen or so Tri's this year probably, which are, obviously a lot less demanding. And the BKool will become my new best friend, whilst my wife is out crunching hard, cold miles, I will park next to the fridge, swing the TV out, and pedal, maniacally away, chasing your on screen ghost Bill, until I can catch you!
