Sometimes late afternoon, I do the nodding donkey thing...
Can't do naps..

I can get some but restricted by location..
should really listen more...
Hams are boring TBH
Still, if you look still lots about..
although a lot have gone digital...
I'm looking at a basic Uniden as youngest Mhor has my handheld.
Differing reports of frequencies covered, but general coverage isn't really needed nowadays.
We'll see...
Radio chat does break out occasionally..
The nodding donkey, does that get to your neck after a bit.
More practice required methinks.

Used to be able to get some down the valley, or near any other canal. But they died out years ago.
There's fewer round here now. Used to be eight I knew.
Make a nice dinner if cooked right.
There's always someone on, it's finding them that's the problem.
This the youngest that you're looking after?
Maybe...
Not heard much in years. Something akin to morse code at times...

It's my way of so-called napping late afternoon,
one of these days I'm going to bounce my noggin off this desk...
Aye, youngest...
It's nice and peaceful compared to her sister..

I can hear the very occasional ham here on 2m, never anybody on 70cm..
almost dead bands...
France was looking for an allocation (in the 2m area) a couple of years ago to expand their air band part of the spectrum,
they already have 18mhz of bandwidth...

Morse is still well used but data is the busiest now...
plus you can do unattended operation, say you are in a hotel in say Australia, you can control your radio at home then you can operate using your home callsign.....there is quite a few who do take radios abroad and just throw a long wire out of a window...
I'd be F/GM**** if I was in say Paris.
Most countries reciprocate licenses.

Not the type of nodding of where your head just slumps forward, you wake up with a jolt, swinging yer head backwards.
That'll happen as you admire the latest piece of 3D printing.
Give her time. Toodles was the same at one stage...

Don't know any hams near me. Nearest I know is half a mile away(straight line distance) atop a nearby hill.
Was interfering with fire service radio at one stage, or so he was told.
I know it's still used, my understanding it, live, is nil though.
Nearest I've got to radio use in recent years is the handheld radios akin to police radios. A few steps up from security use radios.
You'd use your radio remotely on holiday!
Why not relax by the pool bar? Nod off there.

If I'm on the radio,
I'm sitting at it, I've no time for using it remotely..
I remember working a station in one of those vowelless Russki republics, he was sitting in Warsaw.

QRZ.com have a search which lets you know who is in your area, just use address search, over 90% of hams worldwide are on it....
my holidays now consist of three days or so in the Lake District although we'd planned Snowdonia this year. Yes, the VHF handhelds would have gone....I don't do abroad..I don't fly..

You had me wondering for a while, on holiday and working your radio at home. Not relaxing by the pool.
There'll always be someone. How would that sort of contact be logged?

Need to be logged in to search. Just tried.
Taking the handhelds to somewhere in this country is a little different to taking them to somewhere like Australia.
Would you go on a slow boat?
More time to tinker with the ships radio.

Well, we've had rain that wasn't forcast, and it stayed well above freezing overnight. My thoughts are wandering to this 500+ mile "wall of snow" they keep on insisting is going to hit the UK this week.
Will it, won't it appear. And if it does, will it ne as bad as forcast?

Owdo to those from outside The County.
A quiet, if sometimes wet start to a quiet day. Not much planned for today

I've never been a pool relaxer, more a swim in it..
Every morning first thing, 'El Splasho' appeared....
Wasted journey this am, and even on the way back, the road we wanted to travel down was closed, oh well..
Dailys are almost done once vacuum thing charges, funny how I always call everything like it a 'hoover'.. age showing.
I could handle a cruise, Mrs M gets seasick at the sight of water, sadly.....
I always fancied the fjords and the Portuguese one up the Douro valley, all yon red plonk to taste....

The thought of being snowed in for possibly two days doesn't bother you then, so long as you have milk!

You can't spend all day in the pool though.
You weren't Mr "El Splasho" were you.
A non productive trip to the shops. Not like you, you usually return home with something.
Flooded?
Saying you Dysoned the living room doesn't sound right, and is open to misinterpration. I reckon Hoover were onto summat when they chose that name.
The vessels are that big nowadays you'd need a hurricane to notice you were sailing. Nigh on 15,000 people on some of them these days.
Is it the sailing part or the red plonk that'd be the deciding factor?

First part never copied over..
Milk for porridge..
Other liquids aplenty..

A mighty large pot of soup made earlier..
Don't need much else..

Another alter-ego of mine...

Yeah, brings me out in song, 'Hoover you with last night, Hoover you holding tight'. Anon anon anon..
The river one mentioned is the same as the Rhine and Rhone sized ones..
Like a Dao or two....or anything fizzy...
I'd gone to the Algarve, mid 80s, drank two bottles of vinho verde each night with meal(between us),
many moons later, the family all returned and we came across the same labelled plonk..
Into the fridge and glasses out, it was flippin' rotten..
palate in the 80s must have been uncultured...

Sorta figured you'd need some for yer porridge, non in yer coffee or hot chocolate.
Bottled water, in case it freezes and yer supply is frozen.

More than one meal from what the pot made.
You could survive on soup, no porridge.

How many alter ego's has there been.

Whilst you were doing the hoovering. Tripping the light fantastic as you glided around the room(s).
You'd prefer the river cruise not an ocean cruise.
Lemonade is fizzy, as is ginger beer...
Odd how previous experiences don't replay when tried again a few years later. Maybe your expectations were too high. Different settings, just the two of you compared to having the family helping you try it.

In the words of Gloria 'I will survive'
(I hope)..a balmy Mediterranean feel at 7.1c here at the Towers..
24 hrs time...:cold: they say..
Electric blanket on the sun lounger..
Sorry, heated throws now, blankets are naff..

No Shake n Vac here, just Bob boogieing..
Love me some fiery ginger beer (with lime juice and dark rum).
Porridge incoming in three..two...one hours
