At least he got back out. There's some who wouldn't want to go back out.
Would you have snuck out, or would that have grounded you entirely.

There seems to be too much reliance on others getting people to safety these last few years.

My pal is very experienced in the hills,
it was one of these things..
too many folk head out when they shouldn't.
I carry map, compass and a GPS(as backup), I'd use radio or phone if in trouble, whistle and light foil wrap thingy just to keep the wind off, extra fleece top on top of my radio gear...
Owdo, dry and with the "autumnal sunshine" streaming through the windows almost since it poked its head above the horizon.

You'll not be letting them go hungry will you?

Are the peas getting smaller as well as fewer.
You did better on the spud front than you let on. That or you didn't eat many of them.
Doing your Peter Piper impersonation again. Will it never end!

Headed out for shopping, a lal fellow 's birthday this week so in the big toy shop amongst others, amazing choice they have nowadays..
Sweet Peas doing not bad and even started some off in the last couple of weeks, all outside in the Aldi /mini greenhouse(their words)frame thing.
Spuds were King Eddies but I'm not a floury tottie fan but they'll be eaten and still a few schaws to pull up, just letting them fall back then last pick, Mrs M pulled one the other night for spuds...

Looks like I'm buying wood to make tubs for the fruit trees and a long strong trough for the bamboos...
Oh well..:cuppa: time

More it didn't put him off wanting to go back out as much as anything else.
A slip happens, even to the best of them.

"How big is the kid that'll be playing with them?" was always one of my first questions. Then onto price, unless they'd mentioned a price range or upper price. What's your local big toy shop?
They just keep on sprouting do they.
Well, you could always go and buy some!

Watch yer hand when yer knocking those nails in.

You'll not be playing with them then?
Smyth's, an Irish company that I was told would never get a single store opened on this side of the Irish Sea. Family that own it aren't too bad.
Didn't know they'd moved into the cake market though.

Not watched it since it became Emmerdale, other than odd bits being caught. Things such as the plane crash that allowed them to move locations. Now filmed in a "village" on the outskirts of Leeds, and the YTV studios.
Emmerdale is now over twenty miles closer to Leeds than it was when Annie Sugden was in it. Back then it was closer to York. And it's not supposed to have moved!!

What'll you do now for your McD's coffee, pay for them all.
6,000 points, what'll they get you.

Not much wind down these parts, yet. Nowt to do with the pickling?

Double jab in just over two hours...
Might need chocolate after it, just in case...

Been out sunning yerssen I see.

Yer legs ached, they should be used to it now. just tell them to stop complaining, or else!
How local was almost, because I doubt the hill was that high.

Watched the first ever episode last night. The accents and words used were completely different to todays. Some of the sayings I've not heard in years. Annie wasn't too funny, reight down to earth.
Ask Da Boss, when and how did Mr Wilkes lose the farm he'd bought in that first episode.
Rare, you keep her safe and out of harms way, whilst she supplies you with cakes.
You'll have to pickle soon...

You did just over half of the height then!
Just the one ascent?
Put yer feet up, relax, get everything brought to you...

Keeping yer fluid levels up seems to be important when you have these jabs. Not entirely certain how much you lose over normal conditions.
I bet you didn't need telling twice either.

Check exactly where they were at the time? Will that be another for your log and another card in the post.

Enjoy yer shuffty.

What killed the cat question.
What's the handheld you use?

I carry an extra battery plus a couple of Chinese handies as backup plus a 4m FM handie as well, obviously handie antennas too, bag isn't exactly lightweight, must weigh it but everything including the 6m fibreglass (roach) pole fit in the 30 litre rucksack.
If I stood on top of that trig point, my head would be at 1,002 ft asl....
14 contacts on VHF was a good total for midweek...
I earned one point in the grand scheme of things...
I did two hills last year so now two this year, I might get another couple in soon.

Reliable, easy to use?

30 litre rucksack, no panniers.
That's not the same hill you pictured earlier then. Or have you shrunk somewhat!

Were those all on the hilltop.

You started your hill bagging late this year.

That photo two up was the hill I was on yesterday, Dumyat (dumb eye at)..a Marilyn, HuMP, TuMP and a Yeaman (its getting stoopid with all these classifications)
The bike one was Corlic(k) Hill near Greenock, I just used photo to show antenna..
OS and every non local calls it Corlick..it's a HuMP , Tump and a Yeaman...
Leg issues(minor) earlier in the year, Last year I was Aug and Nov for hills..
funnily first in the Lakes, a pattern here.
Thing is now a mild Achilles stretch:sad:
More about keeping my yearly SOTA activations going.
I don't drive so reliant on Mrs M for my hill trips,
I just hope no garden centres nearby:hyper:

Radio is okay, I have four 2m handies , Yaesu is a name..
the other three Chinese cheapos..
cheap and careful...
filtering and sensitivity an issue on summits but okay elsewhere.
Pity as if they fitted better filtering...cost pennies to them.
If I drop one? cheap to replace, Yaesu a bit dearer.

Domestics in between catching up on last nights baseball..

The usual, you mean wind and rain? In which case it'll be an inside job day.
Breezy but sunny, and dry here. Set in for the day they reckon.

Someone brings out a book on hill walking, they want their system to be used in their book(s). Personally, I'd stick with the given name, mountain, hill, Munro's & Marilyns. The last two if walking a number of similar hills.

I've this picture of you riding the bike with the Ariel fitted to the rear rack, in my head. Best place to keep it I suppose.
You start late every year then, when the hills are quieter. Chauffeur driven to the start of the climb, you don't want folk wondering. Or do you?
Minimum to keep it active.
You'll have to start researching garden centres near any you're interested in, then avoid them.

Might start looking out for them. There were enough HAMS round here at one point, and I know they never just gave equipment away.

Enjoy yer domestics in between yer catching up on the games last night.

I was going to cut grass but forecast was rain which never appeared:rolleyes:
I just worked away inside.....
Bicycle mobile is a thing, I declare my call as blah blah blah, /mobile but wouldn't take much to have a setup in panniers, small radio, small 12v battery, portable mast (telescopes to 56cms), HF wire antenna (or a VHF beam).....
people do it.....

HF 'rybakov'
rybakov.jpg

9m fibreglass 'roach' pole, 7.4 m copper wire and a 9:! UnUn....for HF,
pole is 1.4m (telescopic), I'd need an ATU (for some bands) or just throw up a dipole cut to resonance. All sorts of alternatives..

VHF?
beam shown on hill top above or the IOB, piece of 22mm white tube, four telescopic antenna (radio type), coax cable make an excellent 2 element beam, could use the 6m pole with a 2m J pole made from 300ohm ribbon cable....
all needed (J pole rolled up attached to coax)
portable.jpg

Pole tied on (boys bike LOL) everything else in pannier bag (s), et voila...

You're placing to much trust in those weather folk, what happened to being able to cast an eye up at the sky, what was going on around outside, and then deciding yourself?

Did you catch up on the games you missed last night, during yer domestics!!

See you have it all worked out, just have to put it onto the bike and see what it feels like pedalling round. The equipment is all waterproof, as opposed to water resistant, intit.

Cheaper version of the TV Detector van doing the rounds, due to cutbacks

Yeah, between the pannier and the handlebar bag (which I use all the time), I could manage.
If it dries, I could do a 'what I carry in my rucksack' photo, if it dries up:cuppa:
better padding on the rucksack straps could help.....
More domestics as its wet out:cuppa:
I'm excited about this:sad:
