Have a pile of school trousers waiting to be turned up, sewing machine kaput.

Motor is working, needle not going up and down - any ideas CycleChatters? Are sewing machine repairs expensive?
Might be a bit obvious (sorry if so) but have you checked the - blimey, I don't know what it's called - on the RHS you have the turny-wheel thing - the inside of that moves separately and stops the needle moving (for when you're filling bobbins).

Yes, I was thinking along those lines, but could not think what it was called.

Found it in my sewing machines instructions: The Clutch knob.

Well I knew exactly what you meant. :laugh:

Bear in mind, though, that my sewing machine is about thirty years old. It might be called something else now on one of those new fan-dangled electronic/computerised machines. :whistle:
