Pixels denotes the size of a picture, in digital format all pictures are made of tiny squares called pixels. Resizing a photo in an editor will change the amount of pixels thereby making it "smaller". You can check the size of a pic by right clicking on the image icon and clicking on properties in the menu, usually a reduced image will be in kb-1000 kb in a mb, 1000 mb in a tb (terabyte).

A little tip to get rid of the white; click on the arrow in paint click on the white of the pic put your pointer on the bottom right corner until you see a double arrow. Click and drag the white in toward the picture until you get to the edge of the pic drop pointer. Save as jpeg file
