Then we went to the West Lancs Light Railway.
Some women like the scent of Channel No.5. Arch likes the scent of steam oil so I found her some.
Do you think there will be enough?

I'm not sure what the other stuff is for!

Random fact; Morris Lubricants who are pretty much the only suppliers of steam oil at the moment are just across town from me.

I have developed a mental block with ice cream vendors, after once mistakenly asking for a '69'! I dare not try to ask for a '99' now because I feel worried that I might repeat the mistake ...

Nowadays, I always ask for 'a cone with a flake' instead!

Located at Hesketh Bank, between Southport and Preston.

We loved the fact that they have a timetable for their train rides:
Every 20 minutes starting from...
11.30 Becconsall
11.33 Willow Tree Halt
11.35 Delph

Return at...
11.40 Delph
11.43 Willow Tree Halt
11.45 Becconsall


Despite their small size they have 34 locos all on a 2' narrow gauge. They specialise in preserving those often unloved and ignored little industrial locos.
Joffre, their current main passenger loco, is a survivor from the WW1 front line in France, whereas Planet, their regular diesel shunter is the only one that has electric starting!
