We loved the fact that they have a timetable for their train rides:

Despite their small size they have 34 locos all on a 2' narrow gauge. They specialise in preserving those often unloved and ignored little industrial locos.
Joffre, their current main passenger loco, is a survivor from the WW1 front line in France, whereas Planet, their regular diesel shunter is the only one that has electric starting!

Sad isn't it I only used to live about ten miles from there just outside ormskirk!! Next time i'm out that way i will have to investigate. Southports a 62 mile round trip as i found out a couple of weeks ago so hesketh bank might be a stretch to far but could train to ormskirk then ride over then home.
