I trust you and your bike are ok!

No worse than usual thanks

It was just a glancing low-speed impact between the end of the rubber grip / my arm and their rear quarter as I tried to filter through the smaller-than-ideal gap in traffic. They stopped unexpectedly, I hit the brakes but by that point was too close and they did little to slow me; the excessive lever travel consuming precious moments and the pads not doing much once they did contact the wet rims.

Thankfully I stayed upright and I'm not sure they even noticed. While there were mitigating factors (crap brakes, wet weather, darkness, limited road space, heavy traffic, unsympathetic car positioning) ultmately it could have been avoided had I been paying more attention and may have stopped a bit quicker had the brakes been better maintained.

As it happens this occured just off the Plain roundabout, which is infamous for claiming cyclists

The fun continued by the discovery of a flat rear tyre flat once I got home - although I think this was from a legit puncture this time and really have to count myself lucky that it wasn't a problem on the ride as that would have been no fun to sort.. yet another job for today!

Got a bit of cramp in my legs on the commute which is now a walk, not a ride; at least for the moment.

Just before Christmas, I fought the wet tram tracks, and the tracks won - and my arm and shoulder "clashed" with the road quite badly. Damage is muscular and will heal, slowly. Thankfully the bus following was not tailgating, and since I ended up in the opposite gutter, a good job the other side of the road was clear.

I can ride short distances still (especially thanks to an adjustable angle stem and butterfly bars, to put me in a "sit up and beg" stance taking weight off my arms, but I can't risk another fall on days where I might encounter some slippery frost or black ice.

And on the plus side, apart from a smashed front mudguard and ripped handlebar tape, the bike is fine

Sorry to hear of your off @Sheffield_Tiger muscular injuries can be very painful and unfortunately sometimes take a long time to heal. When I had an off a couple of years ago, it gave me a dead leg (thigh) which took months for it to feel normal again. I now don't laugh at football players who retire from the field with a dead leg.

Oh, I'm unfortunately familiar with recovery times on the shoulder....same shoulder in 2011

first week back on bike woke up tired and lethargic thought sod it go slow but go in on the bike. Sat on the bike and suddenly from somewhere some energy appeared quickest time into work this week and lack of traffic (national work from home day or doss as we like to call it). Still feels strange Friday morning traditionally was always one of the worst for traffic these days your lucky if you see more than three cars on the road.

I'm being a wee bit lazy this week and just cycling 5 miles not 15. So there was plenty of cars for a half hour later start in Peterborough, still less than there's on other days. If I'd been that half hour earlier, it's typically only 2 or 3 👍

On the big boys bike today.
Like you @markharry66 , it's work from home day by the looks of things. Seems to be a normal thing now for a Friday. Station and trains far emptier then usual. Hence the big boys bike.
