After another melt and re freeze I'd honestly say that coming home was the iciest ride I've ever done. Sheet ice on all the back roads from yesterday's slush and really slick in places where there's still standing water.

Felt nervous even on ice tyres after reading about @fossyant fall this morning, but no trouble thankfully.

Id say tomorrow will be the worst, temperatures going low enough that grit might not be effective as well as anything melted from today being well and truly frozen.

Got to work fine, but lock on the gate to the warehouse was frozen. Had to pour boiling water on it to get it free. Liberal coating of the handyman’s favourite product, WD40, hopefully means it won’t be frozen tomorrow.

Lovely eight miles in clear freezing wintry conditions, then heavy snow for the last couple of miles. Bike a bit lonely!

Not chancing the bike again today! a light dusting of snow has hidden all the now frozen puddles, making for 'interesting' walking

Wimped out and took the tram, yesterday was a bit sketchy although fine in the evening. This morning it was snowing quite hard, and I though better of it. All the roads in the city centre looked fine and probably could have ridden ok.

Stuck to gritted roads today on a shorter ride to work, and all was well.

My first ride with these £8.52 heated gloves (ordered 3rd Jan, arrived 8th Jan) which I thought were worth a try.

My hands certainly stayed warmer than usual - not too hot, just right really - not cold. I could operate the gears/brakes OK, similar to any other non-cycling winter gloves. The heating elements are on the back of the hand and back of the fingers.

They started off on the lowest heat setting then I upped them to medium after a fast-ish downhill bit at 2.5 miles. I popped some rechargeable AAs into the battery boxes.

As it seems to be always, down here in the south east, we are not effected by any of the freezing cold or snowfall. Upon leaving work for home last night, rain did turn to sleets. I though it would freeze over night leaving ice on the roads this morning.
Leaving for work this morning, it was 2° so no ice or frost.
A relief to be honest.
