Had major rain fall the whole night, as times the rain on the windows keeping me awake.
Luckily by the time I left for work it had abated to a mere mizzle.
A lot of standing water and big puddles on the road on the way in. Not cold though and temperatures forecast for later in the low teens.

Rainy commute #40 for the year
Same period last year 49 rainy commutes.

WFH today. Full of a cold, but I have a three hour approval panel meeting which is on Teams, and I'm not trudging into work just for that. I'll pretend I'm listening and get on with other work.

Quite exceptionally wet on the way home, hosing it down, fountains from manhole covers etc, to the extent that the dial tipped from "unpleasant" to "exhilarating " at times.

Drivers vary from well meaning (stops to warn me of floods ahead, though of course I'm far more likely to get through than they were) to absolute nobs (dangerous overtakes and playing the "will I be first to get stranded in this deep water" rather than taking 5 minutes to go back the other way)

On the way in today, stopped at some red lights next to a car which was at the front. Lights went green, car didn't move, so I took off and said car caught up several seconds later and was then stopped by the queue of traffic ahead.
That's when I saw the reason for the slow takeoff as I went past then a few more times; the driver had their cellphone on their lap and was texting at every opportunity.
On the way home, on a shared route, a lass came pedalling towards me with a dog on a lead with the lead being hooked to the handlebars.
Thought, as did a passer observed, if that dog suddenly pulls away, she has a problem.

Surprisingly fast on the way to the Station in the lull between storms. The headwind wasn't anything like I was expecting. The clouds had kept it mild too and it was only a 6deg C weather shift from Tuesday. Under the clearing skies waiting for the train though in that north wind it felt 🥶

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Coming home last night the roads were covered most of the way home in twigs and the odd small branch along with a few flooded sections caused by the winds along with horizontal rain so im glad i was in the metal box.Starting to feel half human again so i will use the car tonight but I plan to be back at it next week .

A beautiful sunrise and day today. Bright blue skies and sunshine. Though it is a lull before the storm that hits this weekend. I was going to knock out my December's 100 miler but that ain't gonna happen.

On the big boys bike today as am cycling all the way home forsaking the train journey.

It was only feel like 0deg C but for me my new heated gloves were a game changer.

Lol, until I was out of town I was so carried away with them I didn't notice I only had my flashed on and not my solid 800 lumen front light 😂

A bit of De ja Vu at night I suspect I am on the exact same train with the taped up 3rd seat in the flip up seats.

Just seen this post. How are you getting on with those heated gloves? Might be just the camera angle but those look quite chunky like gauntlets. Do you get enough movement in the fingers?

I like them so far, plenty of movement in the fingers and those fingers can feel for a change. The cuffs are quite deep but that seems to make them nice and comfortable.

A nice fast PM commute expecting rain but it never really came. There was a few drops at points but nothing persistent.

I was expecting a block headwind and to get soaked at the other end but it was a strange lull before the storm!

I needed to collect a parcel a couple of km from my house. The last time the parcel from this company came in a large box so I walked and was expecting the lull to break, it never did 👍
